The Jordan Alex Dubrow Fund

The Jordan Alex Dubrow Fund Raising funds for critical, life-saving equipment purchases for the benefit of the North Shore University Hospital NICU (neonatal intensive care unit)

Jordan Alex Dubrow was born on July 5, 2011 at North Shore
University Hospital in Manhasset. An otherwise fully healthy, strong
baby boy, Jordan was diagnosed with a severe case of Meconium
Aspiration Syndrome. Joy quickly turned to great sorrow as Jordan
fought this serious condition, which caused blockage to his airways. Although Jordan received the best possible medical care and
displayed an incredible amount of fight, he lost his battle on the
morning of July 8, 2011. Jordan’s parents (Stacey and Josh), while shocked and devastated
by this sudden tragedy, developed a sincere admiration for all of the
doctors, nurses, and staff at the hospital NICU, and were especially
touched by their compassion and sensitivity both during and after
their stay in the hospital. Determined to help other babies survive, while creating a living legacy for Jordan, Stacey and Josh asked their family and friends to donate to the NICU in Jordan’s memory. Additionally, Josh’s CPA firm’s charitable foundation, The NYBKW Charitable Foundation, established this fund in Jordan’s name to raise money specifically for the NICU. Within weeks, both the Dubrow family and the hospital
were overwhelmed by the amount of donations received. After meeting with the hospital and Jordan’s NICU doctor, Stacey and Josh decided to dedicate their fundraising efforts to help the hospital purchase a brand new Blood Gas Measurement Machine for the NICU. This machine will allow for faster response times, allowing for quicker life-saving treatment of babies with breathing difficulties similar to Jordan’s case. With your much appreciated and needed help, we are working to ensure that The Jordan Alex Dubrow Fund will reach its initial fundraising goal to allow the hospital to purchase this life-saving machine. Any extra funds received will be put towards additional NICU life-saving purchases. We sincerely hope that our collective efforts will keep other parents from going through the tragedy we experienced,
and we thank you for your support with all our hearts. Please visit www.nybkw.com/jadfund.php tomake an on-line donation. All checks should be made payable to the NYBKW Charitable Foundation with JAD Fund in the memo and sent to the address above. If you have further interest in donating time, money, or resources to this life-saving cause, please contact Josh Dubrow at (631)-845-5252 or jadfund@nybkw.com

We know it's been awhile since our last update, but hospital fundraising projects often take some time to implement. We are thrilled to report that because of your support and partnership with The Tender Loving Care Foundation, the March of Dimes NICU Family Support Program is fully operational in the Cohen Children's Medical Center and all other North Shore-LIJ Health System hospitals. All families that have spent time in the NICUs recently have had full access to this state of the art program and welcome/information kit and initial reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. We are also in the early stages of planning another large scale fundraising effort for yet another significant project for the NICU, so stay tuned. We are grateful for all of your support in helping us to raise nearly $100k for such a meaningful cause over the last few years.

We are in the (very) final stages of contracting to provide the NICU's in the entire North Shore LIJ Health System with access to the March of Dimes NICU Family Support Program. This will be a joint effort along with our friends at the TLC Foundation and Pat Covelli Foundation.

This interactive educational web-based software program is the "best of breed" attempt to present NICU families with a "guide-map" to the road ahead in advance of the difficult and unknown journey they are about to embark on. The neonatologists at North-Shore LIJ need this program to enhance their quality of care by preparing parents, caregivers, and relatives of premature and sick infants. This program will teach all involved "what to expect" before, during, and after hospitalization. It will improve care by removing worry and uncertainty of the basics on the family side
and creating tremendous efficiency by allowing the doctors and nurses to focus more solely on what they do best - saving babies.

This is a program that has proven to provide tremendous benefit to the NICUs in many of the world's leading hospitals and now it will be available to the Long Island Community thanks to your continued generous support. THANK YOU ALL!!!
