The Memphis Tigers are playing for Autism Acceptance and it’s going to be an awesome game. This cause holds a special place for Coach Penny Hardaway, and it means the world to see University of Memphis athletics championing our community on such a big stage. Representation and visibility matter!

0 Memphis schools met English proficiency standards for students with disabilities. ZERO.

That's not a student failure. That's a systemic failure.

The L.E.T.S. classroom is one of the only programs in Memphis for adults who aged out of special education without the skills they were supposed to get. Joseph is one of them.
"Reading is important. . . I'm trying to learn. I'm getting there. It takes patience and understanding."

Action News 5 Chief Meteorologist Ron Childers funded the L.E.T.S. classroom renovation this fall, and now it's ready with new floors and fresh paint. 😍😍😍

But a renovated room still needs what goes inside it, so we put together an equipment list. ✏️👩‍🎓👨‍🏫📕🖥️👨‍🏫🎒 😎😁🥰

Since yesterday, people have been chipping away at it, with 14+ items already covered. The big pieces are still sitting there: a smartboard and learning software. If you've been thinking about supporting people with disabilities, this is the week. Check out the list.

We're at this until midnight Friday.

Funding classroom equipment for adults with intellectual disabilities

Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, adults with intellectual disabilities walk into our classroom at The Arc Mid-South because every other system gave up on them. They aged out of special education at 22 with few options after. Most adult programs in Memphis aren't built for them. This one is. 💁🏻‍♂️📖 👩🏻‍🏫🎉👩🏿‍💻

We put together a list of what the L.E.T.S. classroom needs to keep running. Everything from hygiene supplies to a smartboard. Pick one, fund it, and it goes into the classroom. 😀😀

We're clearing the list by midnight Friday!

This Thanksgiving, my heart is truly full. At The Arc Mid-South, we’re grateful for every individual, family, staff member, board member, and community partner who walks this journey with us. You all make the work worth it.

Every day, I see the love, patience, and commitment you pour into supporting people with disabilities—and it inspires me. We are stronger because of you. And this season reminds me just how much we can achieve when we come together with compassion and purpose.


Holiday Hours:

We’ll be closed on Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28, 2025, taking time to rest and be with our families. We’ll resume normal hours on Monday, December 1.

From all of us at The Arc Mid-South, I pray your Thanksgiving is peaceful, warm, and filled with people you love.
