Scotland County Hospital and rural health clinics are dedicated to more than just providing emergent medical care. We are dedicated to providing services to help prevent major medical conditions from occurring. SCH does this by following our mission "to improve the health of our communities, with services closer to home". Our way of improving healthcare in the communities we serve includes partner

ing with many medical facilities to ensure services are obtainable close to home. SCH has continually demonstrated a deep commitment to this rural and remote geographic area we serve, in which we are the only hospital in a five (5) county area of extreme Northeast Missouri (five county approximate population of 21,000). PHILOSOPHY - Scotland County Hospital, as a district hospital, believes that comprehensive primary health care can effectively be delivered on a local basis, easing stress on the patient and families by placing them in a familiar surrounding and with people they know. OUR VISION: To be the pre-eminent provider of patient-centered, physician-directed healthcare in an environment of compassion and trust, supported by dedicated employees with a desire to provide the best care possible. Women should begin yearly mammogram screenings at age 40. For some women, certain factors increase the risk for developing breast cancer and additional screening measures may be necessary. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about one in eight women will get breast cancer in her life, impacting hundreds of thousands of Americans each year. A screening mammogram continues to be the best tool for breast cancer detection.
3D mammography utilizes advanced breast tomosynthesis technology. 3D mammography can increase the detection of breast cancers, while simultaneously decreasing the likelihood that a woman will be asked to return for additional testing. According to the FDA, a number of studies have found that 3D mammograms find more cancers than traditional 2D mammograms and that they also reduce the number of false positives.
This technology is considered superior to conventional digital mammography and is approved by the FDA. 3D mammography is recommended for women of all breast density levels. Researchers have found that:
β€’ 3D Mammography exams find 20-65% more invasive breast cancers compared to 2D alone.
β€’ 3D Mammography is FDA approved as superior for women with dense breasts compare to 2D alone.
β€’ 3D Mammography exams reduce callbacks by up to 40% compared to 2D alone.

Jayme Engelbrecht, FNP-C, is a Family Nurse Practitioner at Scotland County Hospital & Clinics. She is accepting new patients of all ages at Memphis Medical Services. Jayme is a native of Kirksville. She started her nursing journey at Kirksville Area Vocational Technical School and earned an LPN degree. She completed her RN degree through Moberly Area Community College and her BSN through University of Missouri-Kansas City. She graduated with her advanced nursing degree from Walden University. She has special interests in women’s health and pediatric patients. She says she chose Scotland County Hospital because she has spent the last four years working in the Hospital’s Rural Health Clinics as an RN and she witnessed the impact that the clinics, providers, services and facilities can make in a rural community. She says she loves the idea of being able to provide a wide range of services to patients while they can stay close to home for their healthcare needs.
Jayme and her husband live in Edina with their children. Aside from her work, she enjoys being outside, spending time with family and reading a good book.
To make an appointment with Jayme at Memphis Medical Services, please call 660-465-2828.
