Church Health provides quality, affordable healthcare for working, uninsured people and their families. Thanks to a broad base of financial support from the faith community, and the volunteer help of doctors, nurses, dentists and others, Church Health has grown to become the largest faith-based healthcare organization of its type in the country. Currently, we care for more than 58,000 patients of record without relying on government funding. The average visit costs about $25.

When Dr. Tejwani arrived in Memphis in 1968, she never imagined she’d still be serving this community more than five decades later.

As one of Church Health’s earliest volunteer physicians, she’s cared for countless patients who fall “in between” - those who don’t qualify for insurance, Medicare, or TennCare. “They’re the most appreciative people,” she says. “It’s a privilege to care for them.”

Now retired, Dr. Tejwani continues to volunteer her time and expertise every week, seeing many of the same patients she’s known for years. “It’s the continuity of care I’ve always loved,” she shares. “And it makes me happy to keep doing it.”

Her message to other physicians: “If you’re looking for the most rewarding experience of your life - come volunteer at Church Health.”

Thank you, Dr. Tejwani, for a lifetime of compassion and service. You are the heart of what makes Church Health strong.
