DVT occurs when a blood clot forms in a deep vein, usually in the legs. If untreated, it can break loose and travel to the lungs, causing a life-threatening pulmonary embolism.

⚠️ Know the warning signs:
• Swelling in one leg
• Pain or tenderness
• Warmth or redness of the skin
• Leg cramps (often starting in the calf)

Risk factors: prolonged sitting (flights, driving), recent surgery, immobility, obesity, smoking, pregnancy, and family history.

💡 The good news? DVT is treatable and often preventable. Early diagnosis and treatment are key to avoiding serious complications.

The procedure involves stopping blood flow to the fibroids, while still keeping a healthy blood supply to the uterus. Uterine fibroids are the most frequent indication for hysterectomy in pre-menopausal women they are experiencing symptoms due to the uterine fibroids. Of the 600,000 hysterectomies performed annually in the United States, one-third are due to women with symptoms from their uterine fibroids.
