Happy Mother's Day from all of us here at Apple Seeds, Inc!

This month, we will be focusing on the topic of birth justice for Mental Health Awareness Month.

Birth justice exists when all women and transgender individuals are empowered to make healthy decisions for themselves and their children during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. This movement aims to dismantle the inequalities of race, age, gender, sexuality, and economic status that can lead to a negative birth experience.

The Birth Justice movement aims "to challenge systems of oppression, such as racism and sexism in reproductive care, Birth Justice advocates for culturally appropriate, person-centered care while challenging disrespectful care. It also supports the sharing of knowledge amongst communities and improves access to breastfeeding support and traditional birth-workers, such as midwives and doulas."
