When we are stressed out or overwhelmed and our instinctual survival responses (such as fight, flight & freeze) are blocked, so we don’t get to complete our body’s survival responses... then trauma occurs and symptoms emerge. As a result, the body continues to respond as if it is under threat. More than thoughts and behaviors – problems often lie within the autonomic nervous system. As one who facilitates healing from emotional, spiritual, and physical pain and suffering, I constantly involve the body and nervous system regulation at the core of the healing process. Nervous system dysregulation includes anxiety, panic, anger, hyperactivity, shame, shut-down and checked-out. The work that I do includes a very caring & listening ear, Mindfulness, EMDR and SE - Somatic Experiencing©. SE relieves emotional and bodily stress which has become trapped within the autonomic nervous system following traumatic experience(s). My style is warm & collaborative while providing practical skills. My practice integrates evidence-based psychotherapies, especially SE, with the spiritually of my Christian faith. The wedding of treatment models and inspiration create the container for working through the experiences of of trauma and pain to find release – and ultimately, peace and freedom. is a Licensed Professional Counselor / Mental Health Service Provider (LPC/MHSP). He holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Tennessee and Masters degree in Counseling and Psychological Services from Georgia State University. He also holds a 2 year graduate certificate from Richmont Graduate University (formerly PSI) in the Integration of the Christian Faith and Professional Counseling. Hambrick has earned certification as a Trauma Model Therapist by the Ross Institute, a certified Anger Management Specialist by the National Anger Management Association, EMDR Trained Clinician and Trained Clinician in SE- Somatic Experiencing and SomEX (sm) somatic experience therapy for Trauma and Addiction. Last month I attained an extremely significant personal and professional accomplishment. After over 4 years (tack on an extra 16 months due to covid) of exceptional training and supervision, I became a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. SE is a powerful trauma modality that initially focuses on the Fight/Flight/Freeze survival response of the Autonomic Nervous System to address shock trauma and developmental trauma. Created by Peter Levine, PhD, this therapy works on the principle that trauma gets trapped in the body, leading to many/most of the symptoms people with PTSD or people who have experienced trauma might experience. Through this method, the practitioner work on releasing this stress from the body. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you think I might could help.
