Wow! Hello!
I can't believe we are halfway into November. Carl is happy! ;-) I,too, am delighted that the weather has returned to a fall feel before winter really sets in.
Since Oscar and I went to visit dear friends in Montreal, I have been working extra hard. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of you who send friends and family to see me. It is such a joy to share this work. I learn more and more with each session!
I am sure you are curious to know, I decided to slow down the immediacy of opening a new location so that I can properly prepare the space for each of you to really enjoy it and feel most comfortable there(myself included!). It is already a lovely, gated office space in the First Baptist Church on the Northeast corner of Poplar and East Parkway. I am really excited and honored to soon share a working environment with renowned professional mental health practitioners, therapists, breath work specialists, and other massage therapists. When walking onto the 3rd floor where the offices are, one feels a great sense of calm and uplifting energy. It's going to be wonderful!
Depending on how long it takes to get the floor ready and the walls painted, I should be open for sessions Monday through Friday within the next month or so. Additionally, I'll maintain my home office for weekend appointments and special occasions.
Stay tuned for more updates! Moving forward, I hope to provide them more often. We will definitely have a fun open house party and YOU have to come! ;)

Studio Policies

As I tidy up shop with the coming expansion, please know that I will begin charging a $50 late cancellation fee for cancellations within 24 hours of a booked session. Cancellations within 3 hours and no-shows will be charged full session price. I am lucky enough to have people on a wait list many days a week. So, please be considerate about our schedules.
Also,I have a teenager to feed!

Hello! If I haven't seen you in a while,

COME IN FOR A SESSION!

I truly respect and love this work that I am doing and I am deeply grateful to each of you for coming to see me and sharing your movement journey with me! It is an honor to explore with you.

We are going to continue having a blast in the home studio until the first of November. I need a little more time to adjust to the move ;-)!
Working from home has been such a blessing and has given me space in my days to hone my work blending Pilates and massage/manual therapy.
I am continuing to study the myofascial lines and deepening my Pilates work.
Many of you and I have worked with applying cupping and Thai massage for release of specific areas of tension with exciting and lasting results! If you haven't come in for one of these sessions, do consider it.
I feel ready to expand this work with the public and I cannot wait for you guys to join me! I'll be moving to the First Baptist Church at Poplar and East Parkway on the North side of Poplar. You will enter the parking lot from East Parkway. I'm thrilled to be joining a group of seasoned experiential healing professionals on the 3rd floor of the building. So much growth and evolution is to come!

October 3rd - 10th Oscar and I will be in Montreal visiting friends from
my art school days in Germany.

Working with the bony attachments of the fascial lines may be more effective than individual muscle massage. This realization is already changing the way I give massages and it's really cool ;-}
I think combining both is best!

The Studio Is Moving!

By Mid-September, Midtown Thai Massage and Therapeutic Pilates will be in a bigger more accessible location! I'll be working alongside a collective of women's healthcare professionals. What a blessing!
I am very excited to be able to spread out, offer small group classes & workshops, and have more community engagement!

Working to keep head, neck and shoulders relaxed while the torso is working to stabilize. Sometimes the work is learning to soften and control what is relaxing and what is contracting. QL, Illiopsoas, side-body stretch for the win!

Hallo!

I'm writing to you from my living room, dear reader. However, my heart is still in Spain. I just returned from a Thai Massage conference in the mountains around Granada. 70 gifted souls from around the world joined me for this 5 day course taught by master trainers of Thai massage who also hold degrees in osteopathy and physical therapy. Their knowledge is profound. I can't wait to share with you what I learned.

Appointments and Adventures and a Coupon!

June is fast approaching and so are many exciting experiences.
In about a week, on June 8th - 18th, I am leaving for a Thai Massage conference with a handful of world renowned practitioners. The teachers are international Physical Therapists, Healers, and Osteopaths who found their way to Thai Massage years ago and are blending the Eastern and Western approaches in a beautiful way. I can't wait to share the knowledge I glean from what will no doubt be a healing experience in the mountains around Granada, Spain. For those of you who aren't familiar, Granada is in Andalucia, the heart of Flamenco culture. As a big fan of the music, I cannot wait to see some shows in person! If you are a Flamenco fan, I'm hoping to see Soleas and Fandangos and everything else!
Another interesting note is that I received my first Thai Massage while living in Barcelona in 2005. Immediately I knew this work would be part of my future.
I'm deeply grateful to have the chance to return to Spain and deepen my practice after 20 years. Wooah. 20 years. What a sweet, precious life we have guys.

To my dear Pilates students and clients, I hope this finds you in a wonderful state. These past few magical weeks of spring have uplifted and enlivened my soul!

If you haven't been by in a while you will be amazed at my yard this year. The lack of a shocking freeze this winter paired with plenty of rain has our azaleas and roses bursting with strength.
Recently, I returned from a 5 day retreat and training at Gray Bear Lodge deep in the forest south of Nashville. I attended an advanced Thai Massage training with my beloved teacher who I've trained with for 15 years. It was a wonderful time. I hope to see you in the studio soon to share my ever deepening practice with you.
Lately, it has been truly rewarding to experience all of my work weaving in and out of the other. My Pilates, Massage, and Thai practices are communicating better and better ;)

In other news, I will be going on another advanced Thai training in Spain this June! It is a conference with 6 different Thai therapists that combine European Osteopathy into their work. It is going to be thrillingly educational! I cannot wait to share it with you.

ALSO! Next Thursday night at Tsunami in Cooper Young I am having an art exhibition of new works. Chalk, pencil and charcoal on wood panel. I love them. They are small and spiritual. They are also exploring the Idea of Oppositional Force like we do in our Pilates practice.
