Arm pain isn’t always coming from your arm.

Pain, numbness, tingling, or burning that travels from your shoulder down to your fingers can start with a compressed nerve in the neck, a herniated disc, carpal tunnel, or other nerve conditions.

Since there are several possible causes, the right diagnosis begins with a detailed history, a focused exam, and imaging when needed, allowing treatment to be tailored to the source of the problem.

If you have arm pain with any of the following symptoms, it should be evaluated by a spine specialist:
• lasts more than a few days
• keeps coming back
• includes numbness, tingling, or weakness
• isn’t improving with over-the-counter medication

Early care can help prevent long-term nerve damage and get you back to normal activity sooner.

Dr. Carroll and team performed the first Responsive Neurostimulation (RNS) case at Baptist Memorial Hospital using the NeuroPace system. This is a milestone for epilepsy care in Memphis.

RNS therapy is an advanced treatment for drug-resistant epilepsy. The implanted device monitors brain activity and delivers targeted stimulation to stop seizures before they fully develop, reducing seizure frequency and severity.

This brings specialized epilepsy treatment closer to home for patients who previously would have traveled elsewhere for this care.
