From UTHSC: As travel conditions continue to improve, the Memphis campus will move to a restricted operations status beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 29. Employees that do not require campus access should continue to work remotely with the support of their supervisor.

We are going to try and open Mid-South Lions office tomorrow morning at 9 AM. We will close by 4 PM to avoid refrozen roads. Thanks for your patience.

Suspension of On-Campus Operations

UTHSC Alert: Winter Storm and Ice Warning

Continued monitoring and management of conditions on the Memphis campus. Operations are suspended through 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 28th.

With this in mind, Mid-South Lions office will be closed tomorrow. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope to return to the office later this week.

Our prayers are with all those affected by this horrific storm.

To all involved... due to the forecast of icy weather and hazardous driving conditions the MECA Cataract-a-Thon has been postponed until February 21. Please pass this information on to anyone who you believe may be volunteering. Thanks.

Here's the latest from Betty Douglas who is still hospitalized:

My blood sugar keeps staying High. The last time they checked it it was 300. I haven't been eating a lot I just don't have an appetite. They're saying maybe I can go home tomorrow and have to follow up with the cardiologist I'll probably have to postpone my cataract surgery because they have me on a blood thinner they don't want to take a chance of me bleeding during the cataract surgery and causing problems. I'll keep y'all posted. Thanks for all your concerns.

I just heard that Lion Betty Douglas is in the hospital (St Francis in Bartlett) with an unknown ailment. She's been sick for several days now and hasn't been able to eat. After extensive testing they are not allowing her to have anything at all now in case they need to perform a procedure. She"s scheduled for cataract surgery on the 7th. When I hear any updates on her condition I will pass it on. Right now, she, her family, and Mid-South need your prayers for her to get well soon.

Mid-South Lions... I had a very nice visit with our past president (1990-1991) B G Tatum today on his 94th birthday. He's in the Mississippi Veterans Home at Tradition near Biloxi.

He's in good spirits and even gave me a big "Hotty Toddy" and I'm sure he's watching the Sugar Bowl tonight.

Please keep him and his family in your good thoughts and prayers.
