A few months in, and we’re incredibly excited about the impact our new Interventional Radiology Center is already having across the Mid-South.

We’ve treated hundreds of patients with minimally invasive Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE), helping men find relief from BPH with a safe, effective alternative to traditional surgery.

Building something new like this takes a great team, and we couldn’t have asked for better partners than Dr. Sandeep Bagla, Marco, Lauren, and their outstanding administrative team. Their leadership, expertise, and dedication were instrumental in getting this center off the ground.

We’re grateful for the trust our patients and referring providers have placed in us, and we look forward to continuing to expand access to innovative, minimally invasive care across the region.

Over 25 years ago, Dr. W. Vance Shappley, Jr., was one of the first physicians in Memphis, TN, to surgically implant the original InterStim sacral neuromodulation device for medication-refractory urinary symptoms. Over 5 years ago, Dr. W.V. “Rusty” Shappley, III, followed in his father’s footsteps as the first physician in Memphis to implant the rechargeable InterStim sacral neuromodulation device.

The Urology Group is tirelessly committed to remaining on the forefront of modern urologic technology. In keeping with this mission, Dr. Rusty Shappley has now become the first physician in Tennessee—and one of the first in the world—to implant the InterStim Altaviva tibial neuromodulation system. The Altaviva device has been FDA-approved for the management of medication-refractory urge urinary incontinence, and it can be placed without the risks of general anaesthesia.
