At Baptist, we are experts at taking care of kids. The new, 17,000-square-foot-pediatric emergency department, housed within the Spence and Becky Wilson Baptist Children’s Hospital, gives the community another option in pediatric care. Conveniently located at Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women, it features 10 rooms for patient care ‒ with flexibility to expand to 15 ‒ and is staffed 24/7 with pediatric emergency medicine physicians, pediatric hospitalists and an array of other pediatric specialists, including the Baptist system’s first pediatric general surgeon and a pediatric anesthesiologist. Boasting a colorful and engaging nature theme designed to appeal to children, the emergency department features a 400-gallon fish tank; whimsical artwork; quilts featuring Baptist’s pediatric mascot, P.D. Parrot, and his gang of friends; and other child-friendly touches. Other pediatric services offered are inpatient and outpatient care, including surgery; diagnostics; and the Pediatric Eye Center, which offers the full spectrum of eye care under one roof.

Today we had the honor of welcoming Senator London Lamar and Representative Caleb Hemmer to our hospital for an important conversation on the social determinants of health that impact our patients every day.
Together we discussed how factors like housing, transportation, food access, childcare, prenatal care and community resources play a critical role in overall health and healing. We are proud to share the quality work our teams are doing to address these challenges and provide patient-centered care that goes beyond the walls of our hospital.
The quality outcomes of our High-risk deliveries are a collaboration of the great work our OBGYNS, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Neonatology and care teams provide. The Leadership, advocacy and support Senator Lamar and Representative Hemmer provide will guide us towards healthier communities.

We were honored to gather to unveil additional portraits & stories in our NICU Gallery of Hope. Each photo and story displayed here is more than just an image on the wall—it is a powerful reminder of strength, resilience, and hope. These NICU graduates and their families have walked a journey that is deeply personal, and we will continue to celebrate not only where they have been, but also the bright futures ahead of them.
We are so thankful for that the families trusted us with their care and shared their stories. Their courage and love will bring encouragement to others who may be starting their NICU journey. This is a place where every visitor can feel the heart and hope that define our NICU.

Special Thanks to Lisa Hubbard, photographer who captured the miracle of these growing, healthy children.

After discharge from our Emergency Room, a grandfather was worried his granddaughter might miss her 3pm graduation after their transportation fell through. When medical transport gave an estimated wait time of several hours, our admissions team quickly stepped in. Adrianne and Venesia saw disappointment on the young girl's face and decided to make sure she wouldn't miss her special moment. They arranged an Uber for the family - covering the cost themselves - and even put together a small graduation goodie bag.

The family's tears of gratitude said it all. Moments like these remind us that compassionate care goes far beyond medical treatment - it's about seeing the person, the family, and the moments that matter most.

Thank you, Adrianne and Venesia for going above and beyond for our patients. This is what Service First looks like in patient care.

Congrats for winning the Service First award.

Crash Camp is in session at the Women's & Children's Hospital. Twenty-One students are here to learn about health care careers with interactive experiences throughout the various units and specialties. From compounding lotions in the pharmacy, to imaging and learning about patient triage, care for new moms and babies, stages of labor and birth simulation, these students should have a great overview of the care we provide at our Women's & Children's hospital. We love teaching and sparking an interest in our future healthcare leaders.
