Jude Children's Research Hospital to advance cures for childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. From the very start, his vision was simple: to ensure that no child is denied treatment based on race, religion, or a family's ability to pay. Headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, St. Jude is now one of the world's leading pediatric cancer research institutions. Designated as a National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center, it is the first and only cancer center solely focused on children. Since its opening, the center has achieved some of the best overall survival rates for pediatric cancer worldwide. Among the best in their field, St. Jude researchers and physicians have led a number of world-renowned pediatric treatment programs. Today, the hospital holds more clinical trials than any other children's hospital in the country and has one of the world's leading pediatric brain tumor programs. In addition, St. Jude is home to one of the largest sickle cell disease programs in the nation, the very first program in the world to discover a cure for the disease. A St. Jude patient in 2004, Dr. Jameshia is now a mother of four and helps develop supportive care plans for cancer patients as an oncology pharmacist.

While cancer remains a part of her story, Dr. Jameshia says, “it no longer commands the narrative.”
“Instead, my life is shaped by purpose, service, and growth.(I am) proof of what is possible when children receive not only lifesaving treatment, but the support to become everything they were meant to be.”
