Black women, this one is for us. 🖤

A banded glute bridge isn’t just about aesthetics.
It’s about power. Protection. Preservation.

Our bodies carry generations.
And strength training helps us carry it well.

When you press your knees outward and lift your hips, you’re activating your body in layers:

✨ Gluteus Maximus – Your power muscle. Builds strength and supports metabolic health.
✨ Gluteus Medius – Protects your hips and knees. Stabilizes your pelvis.
✨ Deep Hip Stabilizers – Guard your low back and improve alignment.

This matters for us.

Because Black women face higher rates of:
• Insulin resistance
• Type 2 diabetes
• Hypertension
• Chronic stress load

Building muscle improves:
✔🏾 Blood sugar control
✔🏾 Hormone balance
✔🏾 Bone density
✔🏾 Long-term mobility

Muscle is not vanity.
Muscle is longevity.

This Black History Month, we celebrate resilience —
and we protect it with strength.

Every rep is reclamation. 💪🏾🖤

Your body is not “betraying” you.
Your cortisol might just be elevated.

Chronic stress keeps cortisol high — and that can lead to:
• Belly weight gain
• Poor sleep
• Anxiety
• Brain fog
• Fatigue

The good news? You don’t fix cortisol with punishment.
You fix it with balance.

✨ Lift weights (but don’t overtrain)
✨ Prioritize sleep like it’s medicine
✨ Eat enough protein
✨ Lower caffeine
✨ Practice stillness
✨ Laugh more than you scroll

High cortisol is common in busy, high-performing women — especially in perimenopause and menopause.

If you’re tired but wired… it may be time to support your hormones instead of blaming your willpower.

🌸✨ Hormones + Strength + Inflammation… they’re ALL connected.

As Black women, we are often told to “just work out more” or “eat less.”
But if your hormones are low, your inflammation is high, and your recovery is poor ➡️your body is fighting you.

Here’s what really supports the journey:

🩸 Boost red blood cell production
🔥 Lower inflammation (CRP matters!)
💪🏾 Support lean muscle + recovery
🌙 Protect sleep + manage stress
🌸 Optimize hormones safely

Testosterone, estrogen, proper lifting, protein intake, and targeted supplementation can shift visceral fat, improve energy, and restore metabolic balance.

This isn’t about shrinking.
It’s about rebuilding.

If you’re in perimenopause or menopause and struggling with midsection weight, fatigue, or slow recovery…you’re not broken. You’re under-supported.

Let’s change that. 💛

Dr. Muse has personally inspected the parking lot located at the medical office building. The area is not safe for patients to ambulate into and out of the building, especially pregnant patients.

The parking lots have not been cleared and this is hazardous for patients walking into and out of the buildings.

⚠️ Movement Advisory

Because sitting still too long = turning into a decorative throw pillow.

Recommended Indoor Workout (10–15 min, no excuses):

💪🏽March in place while side-eyeing the window
💪🏽Arm circles to remind your shoulders they exist
💪🏽Gentle squats while holding a mug (optional but encouraged)

Main Set (2–3 rounds):
💪🏽15 squats (pretend you’re sitting, then remember you’re strong)
💪🏽10–15 wall or couch push-ups.. EXTEND ARMS FULLY🤭
💪🏽20 standing knee lifts (like you’re stepping over ice mentally)
💪🏽30-second plank OR “strong table pose”

Finisher:
💪🏽60 seconds of dancing to Meg the Stallion or Beyonce
(no judgment, blankets may stay on)

Post-Workout Conditions:
💪🏽Internal heat restored
💪🏽Mood elevated
💪🏽Couch re-entry earned

Mood Index Update:
🩷35% cozy
🩷35% accomplished
🩷20% still listening for ice
🩷10% smug for working out during a storm

Extended Outlook:
Likely followed by soup, stretching, and telling everyone “I still got my workout in."🤣

💡 Let’s Talk About Co-Pays, Insurance, and What Really Happens Behind the Scenes 🩺

I want to take a moment to clear up a common misconception….your co-pay isn’t something your doctor charges just to make extra money.

When we bill your insurance for an evaluation and management (E/M) visit, collecting your co-pay is required by law and by your insurance contract. It’s not optional. If we waive it, we risk being penalized by insurance companies or even accused of fraudulent billing practices.

💰 Truth: Physician reimbursement from insurance is often much lower than people imagine.
⏱️ Reality: The time you spend in the exam room is only part of the work. Charting, reviewing labs, coordinating care, sending prescriptions, and completing documentation often continue for hours after you’ve left the office.

So while it may feel like your doctor’s office is busy or your visit is brief, please remember…your care doesn’t end when your appointment does.

👩🏾‍⚕️ Many of us stay late into the night finishing charts and managing patient care so you receive safe, thorough, and compassionate service.

✨ A little understanding goes a long way. Thank you to all our patients who value the care, commitment, and effort that go into every visit with my patients.

ACOG reaffirms the safety and benefits of acetaminophen use during pregnancy.
More than two decades of research have found no causal link between acetaminophen use during pregnancy and autism, ADHD, or intellectual disability in children. Acetaminophen continues to be an important and safe option for managing pain and fever in pregnancy—conditions that can pose serious risks to pregnant patients and their fetuses if left untreated.
