When Kelly Bolton faced a medical emergency at just 25 weeks pregnant, she knew she needed the best expertise and resources to give her baby girl a chance.

She found exactly that at Regional One Health’s Sheldon B. Korones Newborn Center, and the result has been nothing short of amazing.

Kelly’s daughter Whitney is now a thriving young adult on the cusp of graduating law school and giving back through a career in healthcare law.

“I’ll always love Regional One Health,” Whitney said. “I know that each day is a blessing, and it’s thanks to the doctors and nurses who saved me.”

As we celebrate Doctor's Day, we're proud to highlight some of our amazing physicians! As an infectious disease specialist, Dr. Nathan Summers cares for patients with a variety of conditions. He talked about the rewards of his career and what he enjoys when he isn't at work.

Q: What do you love about the infectious disease field?
A: I love the variety! Every day is different and I get to collaborate with physicians across the hospital.

As we celebrate Doctor's Day, we're proud to highlight some of our amazing physicians! As a vascular surgeon, Dr. Sira Duson helps patients feel better and avoid medical emergencies. She talked about the rewards of her career and what she enjoys outside of the operating room

Q: What do you love about vascular surgery?

A: I love vascular surgery because the majority of our procedures provide immediate relief of symptoms for our patients. A patient can come in with severe lower extremity pain and go to no pain following a surgery or endovascular intervention.

Q: What's a fun fact about you?
A: Although I love medicine and science, I am just as passionate about the arts. I dabble in drawing, painting, interior design, signing and piano.”

Q: What do you love about your career?
A: The ability to take care of the diverse and challenging patients when they are experiencing the worst health of their life is something I like the most about my specialty. It brings joy to help patients and teach my Fellows at the same time.

As we celebrate Doctor's Day, we're proud to highlight some of our amazing physicians! Dr. Ashley Hendrix is a breast surgical oncologist with Regional One Health Cancer Care. We caught up with Dr. Hendrix to find out what drives her to provide exceptional care for patients...and what she enjoys when she's not at work!

Q: What do you love about your specialty?
A: The outcomes are very good - I love seeing patients do well!

Q: What's a fun fact about you?
A: I grow anywhere from 5 to 15 different varieties of tomatoes each year.

Q: Why did you become a doctor?
A: When I was in engineering school, the best part about biomedical engineering was the patients I impacted, I wanted to be more patient facing than in the lab.
