Another amazing day of Winter Camp fun! ❄️ Today, we rang in the New Year early with a fun-filled celebration in the atrium! Our friends from Aloft Portland Downtown Waterfront ME treated patients, families and staff to pizzas and sweet treats.

The festivities included creative activities like marshmallow structure building and a 2025 time capsule worksheet.

Yesterday, the Maine State Police went above and beyond by generously serving lunch to our patients, families and staff. We are so grateful for your kindness and commitment to our community. Thank you, Maine State Police!

Christmas Eve was a lot sweeter at MHBBCH thanks to our friends at LAUGH loud SMILE big who provided 30 Christmas Eve cookie kits to our patients. Many of the children on our inpatient unit need to stay in their rooms while they recover. These kits bring the Christmas spirit to them.

Bright Bodies is a free12-week program affiliated with Let’s Go! that uses the Smart Moves™ curriculum which has been shown in studies to improve health. It is a healthy lifestyle and family approach for children ages 6-17 who have extra weight or obesity. Children and their families will learn about food intake and activity levels, while gathering concrete skills to promote healthier behaviors and lifestyles along with building self-esteem, confidence and strengthening family dynamics. Thanks to some extraordinary "elves" from Oak Hill and Dunstan Ace Hardware and Unum, our atrium was beautifully transformed into a festive tree farm, bringing joy and smiles to our young patients and their families. 🎄

Each child had the opportunity to pick out their very own tree and decorations to brighten their hospital room. Best of all, these trees will be theirs to keep when they're ready to go home.

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to Oak Hill & Dunstan Ace and Unum for helping us bring the magic of the season to the children's hospital during a time that can be particularly difficult for families.

Happy Hanukkah! Our team at MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children's Hospital has kicked off the festival of lights with fire-safe menorahs at our nursing stations and atrium. We will be holding celebrations at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Biddeford and Portland in the coming days for our care team and visitors to embrace the spirit of light, hope and resilience of this holiday.
