Last week, members of our Samaritan Wellness Screen team attended the We Heart You: Recovery in Our Community event.

We are grateful for opportunities like this to listen, learn, and stand alongside others working to reduce stigma and support recovery in our community. Together, we can replace shame with understanding and build a future where healing is possible for everyone.

Our Wellness Wednesday subscribers heard the news first… and now we’re excited to share it with you.

We are honored to announce that Sandra Began will return to the Radiate Hope stage as our 2026 keynote speaker on April 30th.

Sandra first shared her story with the Samaritan community in 2017 after the loss of her husband to su***de. As a former Samaritan counseling client, she has courageously spoken about grief, healing, and the role therapy played in helping her rebuild her life. Now, after several more years of growth and reflection, Sandra will once again join us to share her story of resilience and hope.

As Sandra shared with us:

"When we remove the shame and instead add compassion and curiosity to conversations about mental health everything changes. Radiate Hope does that."

Join us for an evening of connection, courage, and hope.
Your presence helps ensure that compassionate mental health care remains accessible to individuals and families in our community.

We’ll share a link to our latest Wellness Wednesday in the comments so you can read more of Sandra’s reflections on grief, healing, and hope.

Please join us in congratulating Mara LaMascus, our Employee of the Month!

Mara is a Wellness Screen Clinician who brings extraordinary care, compassion, and dedication to every family she serves. In her work with students and families navigating complex and often painful circumstances, Mara consistently goes above and beyond to ensure they feel seen, respected, and supported. Her trauma-informed, culturally responsive approach helps build trust and creates space for healing, especially when it matters most.

As Tricia Plutz, Wellness Screen Coordinator, shared in her nomination: “Mara leads with empathy and a genuine sense of responsibility for the well-being of the families she serves. Her presence and dedication make a meaningful difference—not only for the families she supports, but for the entire team.”

We are so grateful for Mara’s thoughtful advocacy, her collaboration with colleagues, and the steady compassion she brings to Samaritan every day. Congratulations, Mara, and thank you for being a Samaritan!

Faces of Compassion
Meet Keri Gretebeck

“Counseling is a fantastic form of self-care. Trust the process, be patient with yourself, and be honest with your therapist if you have questions or concerns.”

Keri Gretebeck is a Resident Therapist at Samaritan who is passionate about creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel seen, heard, and valued. She earned her undergraduate degree from Carthage College and her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Liberty University. After completing her clinical counseling internship at Samaritan, Keri is happy to be back completing the 3,000 supervised hours required for licensure.

Keri works with children, teens, and adults, and enjoys helping clients discover their strengths and focus on the goals most important to them. She also has experience facilitating groups and supporting special needs families. Her approach is rooted in building trust and helping clients move forward at a pace that feels right for them.

Keri sees clients in our Oshkosh and Menasha offices and is currently accepting new clients.

In addition to her clinical work, Keri will be hosting Samaritan’s Single Parent Day seminar this March. Registration is available on our website.

Faces of Compassion
Meet Doug Bisbee

“Make the call today! You and your mental health are worth it.”

Doug Bisbee is a therapist at Samaritan who believes deeply in meeting clients exactly where they are. Whether someone is seeking a listening ear, practical guidance and coaching, or space to integrate spirituality and faith into the counseling process, Doug welcomes the opportunity to walk alongside them with care and respect.

Doug works with adults, couples, families, and adolescents, using mindfulness, mental health awareness, and proven therapeutic techniques to support healing and growth. He has experience helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, loss and grief, anger management, ADHD, and other life challenges. His hope is that each person he serves experiences greater healing, hope, and empowerment through their work together.

Doug sees clients in our Fox Cities and Oshkosh offices and is currently accepting new clients.

In addition to his clinical work, Doug will be leading Samaritan’s Marriage Enrichment Workshop this February, offering couples intentional space to reconnect, strengthen communication, and invest in their relationship.

Faces of Compassion
Meet Sergio Guerrero

“There is no mold for therapy. You don’t have to show up polished, calm, or fluent in feelings. Therapy meets you where you are and builds from there, the same way any good story or D&D campaign does. We start with what’s real, not what’s expected.”

Sergio Guerrero is a bilingual English-Spanish therapist at Samaritan who brings creativity, cultural humility, and deep empathy into his work. Sergio works with children ages six and up, adults, and couples. He has a special passion for supporting children with ADHD and their families and is a certified Therapeutic Game Master, using game-based and narrative approaches to help clients build skills, insight, and connection. His clinical interests also include anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, anger management, chronic conditions, life transitions, cross-cultural concerns, and spiritual journeys.

Sergio sees clients in Samaritan’s Menasha and New London offices and welcomes Spanish-speaking clients. He is currently accepting new clients. To schedule an appointment, please contact our front desk at 920-886-9319.
