Sure, I have a story. I could tell you all the places I've been, all the things I have done, but quite frankly proposing that my story should matter to you makes me uncomfortable.
Evidence informs my practice and the experience shapes it. This is how I approach every individual goal, whether it’s for my clients or myself. A coach needs to understand what works but also how to apply it on an individual basis. We all have unique preferences and lifestyles. We will work together to implement strategies into the current framework of your life, avoiding the do or die attitude that the fitness world has unhealthily adopted.
Just like life, fat loss, weight loss and fitness goals are not linear. They need to be approached with empathy and balance. My opinion on a majority of the fitness industry is that we have narrowed our focus in the wrong areas and as a result we have formed a negativity bias towards our limitations rather than rewarding ourselves on our journey. Health and fitness goals are important, but without guidance towards smart programming, empathy towards yourself and the present moment they can become just as harmful as the lifestyle you are trying to leave.
I got stuck in a vicious cycle like this for many years. I tried every type of diet I could find on the internet, I’d spend hours researching and weeks being incredibly meticulous about everything that went in my mouth or the exercise program that went with my new ideology. I ostracized friends and missed many social events, all for something I could have had if i’d have only reached out to a reputable coach.
