🔎 Now more than ever, it is vital for professionals in the direct support industry to have the confidence and training to be able to speak to the value they provide in their everyday work. With the future of Medicaid uncertain, their voices are more important than ever.

Last fall, ANCOR launched the new DSP Ambassador Program. The purpose of this program is to give DSPs the ability to “speak up, speak out, and tell their stories about the vital role they play in the communities they support.”

At the ANCOR Connect conference last week, two Dungarvin DSP Ambassadors graduated from the program. Featured here are Denise Martinez from Connecticut and Geno Walters from New Mexico.

What does this mean for us, and for you reading this?

These DSPs are now equipped to engage with our lawmakers, members of the press, and to communities across the country about the importance of their work and to advocate on behalf of the direct support workforce.

We couldn’t be more proud of them and their ongoing commitment to serving others!

⭐ Last week we spent three days celebrating 6 Direct Support Professionals that were recognized nationally for being the best of the best.

To be a DSP is not easy – it requires patience, tenacity, courage, and a kind heart. Through interactions with the winners, we are proud to say that they truly represent the best of what Dungarvin strives to accomplish through the services we provide.

On Tuesday, we heard from our CEO and ANCOR’s President, Lori Kress, and we danced the night away together.

Wednesday gave us the opportunity to take our DSPs on a tour through Boston and experience a harbor boat tour. Later that evening, we presented them with a token of our gratitude and had a lovely dinner with speeches recognizing them and our ANCOR Ambassador graduates.

Thursday we watched as each of our national winners were recognized in front of their peers as the DSP of the Year for their states. They reminded us that compassion doesn't clock out.

Every year, this experience reminds us to be grateful to each and every Dungarvin DSP throughout the country for the work they do and the hours they put in when no one is watching.

Today is the day we celebrate YOU on ! 🥳

“So much happens behind the scenes and our admins ensure that everything is taken care of. Each one of these professional team members contributes to our overall success,” explained Suzanne Craig, Office Manager for the state of North Carolina.

We are so thankful for each and every one of you.

📢 Last night, Dungarvin's own CEO Lori Kress provided the President's Address at this year's ANCOR American Network of Community Options and Resources Connect '26 conference in Boston, MA.

Since 2019, Lori has been on the ANCOR Board of Directors and is now in her final year as Chair of the Board. Tonight she shared some personal insight from her time advocating for the direct support industry. She welcomed 1,556 registered attendees (new record!) on the first night of the conference, including 90 DSPs ( ) from across the country. She asked us to remember the dark and stormy nights we have had to endure grappling with the devastating realities of more than $1 Trillion in budget cuts.

But she reminded us to have faith, that we will weather the storm, because our actions in reaching out to Congress are beginning to have an effect helping others to recognize the immense value of Medicaid -- why we need the program and why we should NOT gut it! While there is much still to do, our collective engagement is being noticed by legislators and policy makers, helping them understand that the services and supports we provide to those who need them are lifesaving.

Take 30 seconds now to add your name to a pre-written message to Congress asking them to protect Medicaid from further cuts: https://www.ancor.org/actions/protect-medicaid/

Wow...and that is only Day 1!? Stay tuned for more learnings and inspirations in the days ahead.

💙 This month, Dungarvin stands with those individuals identifying as living with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

In April, the world celebrates to acknowledge and honor the identities of people on the autism spectrum. “We believe people with autism, no matter where they are on the spectrum, deserve opportunities to live a full and complete life in their communities,” said Dungarvin Minnesota State Director Nat Graf.

We agree and are honored to support more than 800 individuals across the country in our homes and programs.
