October 13 is the US Navy Birthday. Starting as the Continental Navy in 1775, the U.S. Navy has grown from just a small fleet to protect the colonies during the Revolutionary War to the most powerful Navy in the world.

UP Health Systems Hospice salutes all the men and women, past and present, active and retired, who served and currently serve across the globe in the air as well as the sea.

Emergency nurses face some of the most intense and challenging moments in healthcare, yet they meet each patient with courage, skill, and compassion. Whether stabilizing a crisis, easing pain, or comforting families in urgent situations, emergency nurses bring both strength and heart to their work. This week, we celebrate and thank them for being a vital part of the continuum of care.

Their participation reflects our ongoing commitment to being active, supportive partners within the community we serve.

Local Hospice Team Volunteers at Feed America Event

On Thursday, Sept. 18, Hospice Account Executive Cassie Emmer and Hospice Aide Jackie Adderley from UP Health Systems Home Care and Hospice spent the day volunteering at the Feed America event held in Menominee, Mich.
The event brought together community members and organizations with the shared goal of supporting local families facing food insecurity. Emmer and Adderley joined other volunteers in distributing food and providing assistance to attendees throughout the day.
“We are proud to be part of a community that comes together to help one another,” Emmer said.
“Events like this highlight the importance of compassion, care and service — values we carry with us every day in hospice.”
The Feed America program continues to play a vital role in strengthening the Menominee community by ensuring that individuals and families have access to essential resources.
