Robert Henry “Bob” Duffrin, 91, of Marinette (formerly of Menominee), passed away on November 28, 2025.

Born July 20, 1934, on the family farm east of Stephenson, Michigan, Bob was the second child of Mathew Duffrin and the former Lillian Chartre. He graduated from Stephenson High School in 1952, and married the former Mary Louise Smith of Menominee on January 29, 1955 at St. Anne’s Church.

Bob was drafted and served his country honorably in the US Army, training at stations in Missouri, Colorado, and Virginia, before serving at the Nike missile site in Cudahy, WI.

After graduating high school, Bob moved to Milwaukee, WI, where he worked at Outboard Marine Corporation for 20 years. He also became skilled in auto body repair, which he did on the side.

In 1974, Bob and Mary Lou moved their family back to Menominee County. Forever an entrepreneur at heart, he was involved in the founding and selling of several family businesses, including Duffrin Brothers, Inc; Michigan Handle and Block; and Excel Brush Works, among others. Bob considered himself lucky to work with both his children and grandchildren in various family businesses over the years. Bob was also a hobby brush maker, making traditional style corn brooms from his home shop. He never truly retired, but continued his industriousness into his later years, building and selling yarn spinners on Etsy. Additionally, Bob was a member of the Menominee Rotary Club for several years.

Bob is sadly missed by his surviving family, whom he dearly loved and was extremely proud of: his loving wife of nearly 71 years, Mary Lou Duffrin; his brother Charles (Karen) Duffrin; his children Matthew (Kim) Duffrin and Cynthia (Mark) Chaltry; his grandchildren Brian Chaltry (fiancée Laurie Jo Bain), Joseph (Michelle) Chaltry, Victor (Maria) Duffrin, and Lillian (Samuel) Wegner; his great-grandchildren David, Sophie, and Ryleigh Chaltry, Evelyn and Clara Duffrin, Rhett Wegner, and one more on the way in April. Bob is further survived by brothers-in-law, whom he thought of as his own brothers: Richard (Ellen) Smith, Gerald (Gay Ann) Smith, and Robert Smith (Shirley); and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Mathew and Lillian Duffrin; his siblings Richard Duffrin and Carol (James) Prestin; and his grandson Garrett Duffrin; as well as his parents-in-law Lester and Marie Smith, and brother-in-law Lester Smith Jr. (Patricia).

Bob’s family would like to thank Dr. Hudson and the cardiology team at Bellin Health for their excellent care. He thought very highly of them.

In accordance with Bob’s wishes, no services will be held. Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Menominee, at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to any family member.

On November 14, 2025, Annette (Marbes) Francour walked through the heavenly gates to join those who passed before her. She was born on December 25, 1934, to the late Richard and Cecil (Marineau) Marbes. After graduating from Marinette High School in 1953 she worked at Scott Paper Mill until she married Eugene Francour. Gene and Annette were married August 25, 1957, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marinette. She was a stay-at-home mother and then babysat for her grandchildren and neighbors’ children for many years.

Throughout the years Annette loved going camping and traveling with Gene and her family and often spoke about her winter trips to Florida and out west after Gene retired. She enjoyed keeping a journal of all her vacations and reminiscing by reading them now and then or pulling them out for others to read whenever they mentioned going to the same places. She knitted, crocheted and sewed her entire life until she was no longer able. She made Barbie doll clothes as well as ponchos, hats, scarfs, and mittens for her family in the early 70’s and many afghans for family and well as donating them to charities throughout her life. Annette also crocheted prayer shawls for Unity Hospice and sewed for cancer/chemo hats, pillows, and a variety of other items needed for cancer patients that were donated locally and at facilities in Green Bay. Annette was in seventh heaven collecting gnomes, picking rocks off the beaches, and putting puzzles together. She was most famous for her laugh with an occasional snort and her “old fashioned” sayings like, “what the hump” or “Oh for corn’s sake” but mostly for her love of biscuits and gravy and never meeting a potato she didn’t like. She loved everything and anything related to a potato, especially a twice baked potato with Boursin cheese. She loved Friday fish fries and going up north to the Francour family homestead for family cookouts in the summer months.

Annette is survived by her 7 children: Gina Lipp from Oconto, WI, Dotty, Paul, and Trina (Pete) Baxter from Menominee, MI, as well as Jill (Jay) Beyer, Peshtigo, Bart (Lisa) Suamico, and Adam (Rocki) from Menominee. She had 12 surviving grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her siblings David/Linda Marbes of Marinette, Donald/Donna Marbes of Menominee and Ken/June Marbes of Florida, sister in laws: Dorothy Francour-Schwindt of Brookfield, WI, and Millie Francour-Walters of Neenah, WI, and literally hundreds of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gene (2019), a grandson Joe Beyer, her parents, siblings Lois/Roger Kniskern, Kathy/Lynn Ruggles/John Lord, Tom/Mary Marbes, her in-laws Adam and Agnes Francour and 13 of Gene’s siblings.

Visitation for Annette will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church beginning at 9:00am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am with Father Jins Joseph presiding and Father Jamie Ziminski doing the homily. A luncheon will follow Mass of Christian Burial in the fellowship hall. Annette will be buried in Birch Creek Cemetery alongside her husband in the spring.

Annette would like to thank her daughter Dotty for taking care of her since 2019, taking her on monthly mini vacations around Michigan and Wisconsin and making her potatoes most nights. She would like to thank her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who visited her often and special nieces and nephews who always invited her over for pizza or Friday fish fries and many laughs. Those were time she thoroughly looked forward to and enjoyed very much! Rest in peace mom, you will be missed.
