LEE (BUD) NYMAN GRABOWSKY, 83, of Menominee passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at his home. Lee was born on September 6, 1942 in Chicago Illinois. When he was four years old, he was adopted by Murray and Esther(Nyman)Grabowsky of Menominee. In his younger years, he enjoyed making knives and spending time with his dog/best friend Laddy in the woods of Ingallston Township.

In his 20s, Lee worked for the family business FNT industries and started his own family. He also had a passion for horses. This drove him to purchase an old dairy farm on 2.5 road and convert it into a horse ranch. He named it Wild Rice Ranch. There he bred and boarded horses. He enjoyed barrel racing and buggy/sleigh rides.

In his 30s, he felt the need to return to his birthplace. For the next 20 years, he lived in Chicago self-employed restoring antiques. One of his specialties was clockworks, but he could fix anything.

He returned to the North Woods in his 50s where he lived for the rest of his life. He continued working on antiques and started making Native American inspired jewelry. He found solace at Red Arrow Park with his new best friend: a Rottweiler named X.
When his daughter-in-law asked him earlier this year, “What is your favorite smell?” He hesitated for a bit, then replied, “Horses, because it was the happiest time of my life.”

Survivors include his 2 sons: Lee (Jill) Grabowsky of Menominee and Mark Grabowsky of Green Bay; 8 grandchildren: Jami, Steve, Amanda, Brandon, Mark, Skyler, Elijah and Nala; and 11great grandchildren.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents: Murray & Esther; mother of his children: Lillian Grabowsky; and grandson: Bradlee.

Honoring Lee’s wishes, no formal services will be held. The family will host an outdoor celebration for Lee this summer, date TBD. Cadieu Funeral Home is assisting the Grabowsky family with arrangements.

Donald Ernest Murray, 87, passed away on April 26, 2026, after a brief hospital stay in Marinette, Wisconsin.

Born on June 27, 1938, in Powers, Michigan, Donald was delivered at a home by a midwife and raised on a farm. From a young age, he worked in the woods alongside his father, grandfather, and siblings—experiences that shaped his strong work ethic and lifelong connection to the outdoors.

Donald made his home in Carney, Michigan. Over the years, he worked a variety of jobs, including working in the woods, factory work at Frigo Cheese, transporting milk from local dairy farms for Dennis Rye, and spending a short time as a concrete worker in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Earlier in his life, he also studied electrical wiring. He often said that if he were able, he’d still be driving truck for Dennis Rye, hauling milk from local farms.

He found enjoyment in the simple things—cutting firewood for exercise, tending a garden, snowmobiling in his early years, fishing, hunting, foraging, and visiting the casino. He especially enjoyed playing cards, particularly cribbage, and valued time spent with family and old friends around the table.

Donald’s life was one of both challenges and connection. In his later years, he shared time with family in different ways, and those moments were meaningful.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Murray; his parents,
Ernest and Luella (Lauscher) Murray; and several siblings.

Don is survived by his children: Ernie (Pam) Murray, Denise (Glenn) Krueger, Donald “Jack” Murray Jr., Christopher (Micki) Murray, Veronica (Kevin) McMahon, Lisa (Scott) Hellberg, Jeffrey (Tammy) Murray, and Scott (Kim) Murray; his siblings, Roger (Jan) Murray and Ken (Connie) Murray; his sisters-in-law, Barb (Joe) Murray and Sharon (Bill) Murray; his brothers-in-law, Ronald (Micki) Hoduski and Gerald (Elaine) Hoduski; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and his god child Jeri Lynn Hoduski.

Visitation for Don will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church in Nadeau on Saturday May 2, 2026 from 9:30 am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am with Father Benny Mathew officiating. Burial will follow in Nadeau Township Cemetery. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home is assisting the Murray family with arrangements.

RACHEL LYNN (BEHNKE) BAYERL of Menominee, passed away on April 16th, 2026 in her home surrounded by her family. Rachel was a light, shining on the lives of others, brightening every room she entered. A favorite memory from over the years is dancing in the kitchen with her daughters. Rachel was born and raised in Marinette, WI, by Gale and Brenda Behnke. Rachel attended Marinette High School, graduating in 1995. This same year, Rachel met her husband of 25 years, Jacob Bayerl.

Rachel recognized that being a mother was her greatest achievement in life. With Jacob, Rachel raised two daughters, Emma and Jetta Bayerl, and later adopted the best dog, Paisley. Additionally, Rachel was always known for her frequent TJMaxx shopping trips and daily amazon deliveries, something she is probably still up to in heaven.

Rachel is survived by her husband Jacob, her daughters Emma and Jetta (Hunter), her pup Paisley and grandpups Stella and Angel, her parents Gale and Brenda, her in-laws Jack Bayerl and Shirley Wozniak, her grandmother Jean Marineau, her sister Michelle (Jon) Baumgarten, her beloved niece Nevada (Devin) Waelchli, nephew Ian Baumgarten, and many family and friends.

Rachel is preceded in heaven by her grandparents Edward and Mabel Behnke and Robert Marineau, and uncle Joseph Marineau. Rachel will forever be remembered for the joy she brought to others, her contagious smile, her warm presence, and her incredible strength.

Rachel loved spending time with her family, particularly outdoors in her beloved backyard, which per her request will be the location of her celebration of life on May 23rd, 2026 tentative time 3-8pm. Cadieu Funeral Home is assisting the Bayerl family with arrangements.

Sherri Lou (Fernstrom) Shampo, 61, of Stephenson, Michigan, passed away on April 18, 2026, surrounded by her family.

She was born on February 16, 1965, to Marjorie Elaine (Thomas) Fernstrom and Charles Burton Fernstrom.

Mom was a wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend — but more than anything, she was the center of our family. She was never one to make things about herself — everything she did centered around her family.

Her passing was sudden and unexpected, following a short and difficult few weeks of illness.

She loved deeply. She forgave easily. She was incredibly strong, stubborn in her own way, and always trying to take care of everyone else before herself. She gave more than she ever asked for, and she never stopped showing up for the people she loved.

She dedicated over 25 years to a career in banking and was currently the Branch Manager at Nicolet Bank in Stephenson, where she built many close friendships and connections within her community.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Shampo; her children, Jason (Robyn) Shampo and Jori (Shawn) Lawatsch; and her grandchildren, Kenzie Lawatsch, Ava Jayne Shampo, and Jack James Shampo — her greatest joys.

She is also survived by her siblings, Cathy (Jim) Rogers, Charles (Cindy Miller) Fernstrom, Ronald (Marie Fuller) Fernstrom, Donald Fernstrom, Tami (Scott) Carlson, and Gordon Fernstrom, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There isn’t really a way to sum her up in a few paragraphs. She was kind, generous, selfless, and always thinking about others — but she was also restless, strong-willed, and entirely herself in every way.

She and her husband, Jim, spent nearly every day together for the last 43 years. Together, they built their life through home and family, resilience and hardship, loyalty and love. Jason was always her “little boy,” and even living several hours away, he and his family were the light of her life. She was Jori’s best friend, her go-to for nearly everything, and always her protector.

She will be missed in the quiet, everyday moments — the ones that mattered most to her. We will carry her with us in everything we do.

In true Sherri fashion, she didn’t want a formal service or attention on herself. She will be cremated, and her family and friends will gather to celebrate her life on Sunday, May 24th from 10am to 3pm at Lake Township Hall in Stephenson, Michigan. The gathering will be informal, with time for food, stories, and sharing memories together.

Anderson Diehm Funeral Home is assisting the Shampo family with arrangements.
