The Harbors property has a storied history that spans over one hundred years. This historic landmark has served many generations of families ever since it began itsharbors life as St. Joseph's Hospital in 1891. Joseph's was first operated by the Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis, who travelled by foot to collect donations from lumber camp workers for the maternity hospital. Marshall Lloyd Hospital, located next to St. Joseph's, was dedicated and operated by the Sisters in 1950. In 1974 the county assumed legal ownership, renaming it Menominee County Lloyd Hospital. The Hospital merged with Marinette General Hospital in 1985, when services were expanded and new facilities were built. The Hospital reverted to county ownership in 2005. In 2008, renovations began on the former Menominee County Lloyd Hospital to to develop The Harbors Retirement Community, an exclusive new residence for seniors with unique amenities reminiscent of the historical charm of this community landmark.
