Meet Justin, Associate Area Service Manager in our Life Sciences segment. Driven by a passion for collaboration and progress, he turns challenges into opportunities to create a better tomorrow.

Justin joined STERIS two and a half years ago and says he’s most proud of being able to help others succeed. “Two aspects that make me truly passionate about my role is working with great people and being involved with the amazing work that many of our Customers are excelling in,” he shared.

As an Associate Area Service Manager, Justin thrives on variety. No two days are alike—and that’s what makes his role so exciting. Whether he’s in meetings, talking to Customers, assisting in capital projects or checking in with his team, he brings a strong technical foundation and disciplined approach shaped by his military service. “STERIS has extensive experience in our field, and I often rely on others’ experiences to figure out the best way to approach new challenges.” Prior to STERIS, Justin served in both the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Coast Guard, working in advanced communications, navigation, and electronics roles—experience that sharpened his attention to detail and ability to adapt to any situation he faces.

In his free time, Justin loves to be outdoors with his family. He enjoys hunting, fishing, mountain biking, snowboarding and hiking.

Three languages, three countries, one passion: connecting with people to support our Customers. Meet Lucas, Account Manager in our Life Sciences segment.
Lucas joined STERIS a little over two years ago and says his multilingual skills are key in his role. “Being fluent in Portuguese, French, and English helps me connect with Customers daily and deepen cultural understanding while growing our business. I’m a Brazilian who is married to a Serbian woman and living in France—being exposed to different cultures is a big part of who I am, and it certainly helps me in being receptive to different opinions,” he shared.

As an Account Manager, Lucas spends his days with our Customers on-site, in meetings, and in webinars. He also attends industry events, developing custom-made products with colleagues and providing technical support. He says his job isn’t just about sales or managing accounts—it’s about being a trusted advisor.

Obstacles and challenges are part of any role, and it’s no different for Lucas. “I focus on what the Customer needs. Every process is unique so you must adapt.” Lucas always strives to stay organized and listen—two skills he says are crucial for success.

In his free time, Lucas and his wife enjoy raising their son, who turns one year old today! He also likes producing electronic music, going to the gym, and reading science-related books.

Through a fun and interactive game, Associates showed that accuracy and communication are critical to keeping our teams effective and our Customers satisfied.

Meet Holly, Legal Operations Specialist, and learn how a high school program and a job offer at a local law firm led to a rewarding legal career.

Holly joined STERIS almost four years ago and says it wasn’t until she became a member of a program at her high school that she knew what she wanted to do. “The program was created and set up for [high school] seniors that wanted to attend their classes for half the day and work at a local business for the other half to earn credits to graduate. I was lucky to find a position and was hired as a docket clerk at a local law firm. From that point forward, I knew I wanted to have a career in the legal field.”

As a Legal Operations Specialist, Holly’s days are filled with a mix of strategic planning and hands-on ex*****on. She reviews priorities, tasks, and ongoing projects, and collaborates closely with our attorneys and cross-functional teams to support legal initiatives and manage vendor relationships. “It’s a balance of problem-solving, communication, and continuous improvement, which keeps the role dynamic and rewarding,” she shared.

When she’s not at work, Holly enjoys spending time with family and watching her children excel in their sports. She loves fishing, hunting, reading, gardening, and quilting.

Meet Juan: Nine years ago, he was an intern balancing work and classes. Today, he’s an Engineering Manager driving innovation in healthcare.

In 2016, Juan joined the V. Mueller business—which was acquired by STERIS in 2023—as an engineering intern. He gained hands-on exposure to tools and manufacturing processes, giving him a strong footing for transitioning into a full-time role as a manufacturing engineer. “My internship was a pivotal step in the early stages of my professional career,” he shared.

As an Engineering Manager, Juan’s days are filled with technical work, collaboration, and problem solving. “Engineering roles are highly interactive and require a lot of communication.”

And when a challenge arises, Juan sees it as an opportunity to do something different and grow. He says he takes a step back and looks at the situation from different perspectives, which pushes him to be more creative and collaborative.

“I am proud of the work I have done, and I’m proud of how much I’ve grown professionally, the learnings and opportunities I’ve had, and the people who have allowed me to learn from them.”

When he’s not at work, Juan enjoys family time with his wife and six-month-old daughter. He also enjoys hiking at U.S. National Parks, playing soccer, staying active, and flying his drone to capture beautiful photos.

Meet Ashley, Customer Operations Manager in our Life Sciences segment. She joined STERIS 14 years ago and says her passion lies in supporting her team and seeing them grow, knowing the work they do directly impacts our Customers’ experiences.

As a Customer Operations Manager, Ashley’s day-to-day tasks can vary. She reviews daily reports, collaborates with her team, and responds to internal and external Customers. “My job is about connecting the dots between different teams and departments. We aren’t just processing orders—we’re also problem solving and assisting internal departments,” she shared.

Every job has its challenges, and Ashley says she navigates those challenges by viewing them as opportunities for growth. “While [a situation or circumstance] may be uncomfortable at first, I know I’ll come out of it wiser and more equipped to manage the next one.”

Ashley says she’s most proud of the relationships she’s fostered with her teams, other STERIS Associates, and our Customers.

In her free time, Ashley enjoys staying active and trying new restaurants. Each year, along with her aunt and uncle, she completes a 5k race—a tradition she always looks forward to.

Meet Chris, Software Engineer in our Life Sciences segment who has earned 11 college degrees all while working full time. What does it take to accomplish such a feat? For Chris, it started with one opportunity and a lot of perseverance.

Prior to joining STERIS, Chris worked as a road service diesel mechanic and eventually became a diesel engineering technician. He wanted to earn a degree while attending engineering school but had to put his goals on hold when he was laid off by his previous employer.

Chris’s hope was restored in 2017 when he joined STERIS as an Engineering Technician. “Finding a position within STERIS reignited my determination to finish all my degrees and allowed me all the engineering opportunities I had dreamed of,” Chris shared.

While working at STERIS, Chris was also a student at a local community college. In just two short years, Chris obtained nine degrees in Electrical, Mechanical, and Manufacturing Engineering—and he holds two other degrees in general studies. “The degrees I’ve earned have enabled me to transition from a technician helping engineers build prototypes and run tests to becoming an engineer myself, and even having several patents in process from designs I have created.”

Chris ended up donating all his tools to a local career center’s automotive program. “Because STERIS enabled me to finally pursue the career in engineering I had been working toward, I wanted to give back to help give other technicians the opportunity to pursue their dreams.”

As a software engineer, Chris conducts software testing for new products as well as electrical and mechanical testing for safety compliance to global standards.

In his free time, Chris is busy growing a small-scale fruit farm. He enjoys gardening and cooking their home-grown food with his two young children. Read more from Chris below.

Today, on International Volunteer Day, we recognize our Associates who give the gift of their time to support meaningful causes.

- Conroe, Texas: STERIS Associates gathered at a local community assistance center to assemble over 450 hygiene kits, 50+ quick meals for homeless residents, and 50+ clothing donations, and organized frozen food items for the center’s fresh pantry.

- Libertyville, Illinois: Associates volunteered at a local book bank to help sort and package hundreds of donated children’s books. These books are distributed to schools and other organizations that are dedicated to promoting the joy of reading.

- Monza, Italy: A team of Associates came together to clean stalls and cots at an animal protection agency. They helped feed, walk and play with cats, dogs, sheep, donkeys, goats, and other animals who call this agency home.

- Mentor, Ohio: Associates supported trail reforestation efforts at a local park. Their efforts helped maintain trails for parkgoers and contributed to the conservation of local habitats.
