Meet Juan: Nine years ago, he was an intern balancing work and classes. Today, he’s an Engineering Manager driving innovation in healthcare.
In 2016, Juan joined the V. Mueller business—which was acquired by STERIS in 2023—as an engineering intern. He gained hands-on exposure to tools and manufacturing processes, giving him a strong footing for transitioning into a full-time role as a manufacturing engineer. “My internship was a pivotal step in the early stages of my professional career,” he shared.
As an Engineering Manager, Juan’s days are filled with technical work, collaboration, and problem solving. “Engineering roles are highly interactive and require a lot of communication.”
And when a challenge arises, Juan sees it as an opportunity to do something different and grow. He says he takes a step back and looks at the situation from different perspectives, which pushes him to be more creative and collaborative.
“I am proud of the work I have done, and I’m proud of how much I’ve grown professionally, the learnings and opportunities I’ve had, and the people who have allowed me to learn from them.”
When he’s not at work, Juan enjoys family time with his wife and six-month-old daughter. He also enjoys hiking at U.S. National Parks, playing soccer, staying active, and flying his drone to capture beautiful photos.
