One of the most common questions we hear is, "Should I lose weight before having cosmetic surgery?" Rather than giving a specific weight or BMI, Dr. Greer's general recommendation is that you be at a weight you are comfortable with and able to say at. If you are actively planning to lose weight, you should be within 10-15 pounds of your goal weight prior to surgery. If you are not planning to lose weight, Dr. Greer will explain your surgical options, what your results are likely to be, and whether weight loss should be considered to achieve a better result or to decrease the risk of postoperative complications.

Patients often wonder what the belly button will look like after abdominoplasty. For traditional abdominoplasty, there is a scar around the belly button that ideally is tucked just inside where you don't really see it. Fleur-de-lis abdominoplasty is a little bit different, because a new belly button is created from tabs of skin on either side of the incision. So there is a vertical scar through the belly button itself, but no scar around it.
