She was at deaths door. I had prepared myself to let my best friend go.
It was a long holiday weekend and vets were closing early... she had shallow irregular respirations, halting at times and rapid irregular heartbeat. All the signs of the end.
We had nothing to lose so I tried oil of Oregano capsules. It was top of the list in emergency home veterinary medicine as being like an antibiotic.

Day 2 on Oregano oil she only perked up a tiny bit. But I nursed her spoons full of water, tiny morsels of food by hand encouraging her to take a bit more. I could still see the fight in her was still there...
She never left my side in all her 15yrs. She heard me cry when my son died, she heard me scream during deep emotional relationship losses... Thats what friends do. So I nursed her night and day.
I dont know how much time she has left in this incarnation, and I'm braced for that.
But she never gave up on me, and I couldn't give up on my "Ride er Die".
