Call for Journal Article Submissions

Deadline for the 2025 Issue: May 15th
(manuscripts are also accepted on an ongoing basis)

The Journal of Psychodrama, Sociometry, and Group Psychotherapy is inviting the submission of manuscripts that highlight group workers’ action techniques from all corners of the globe. The experiential methods, in particular sociometry and psychodrama, have numerous adoptions in addressing multicultural obstacles and we invite manuscripts describing action models concentrating on diverse and social justice issues. We strongly encourage new authors, students, educators, international colleagues, and authors who identify as Black, Indigenous, and/or People of Color (BIPOC) to consider submitting manuscripts.

Submissions can include original research papers, case studies, theoretical articles, practical articles, and book reviews. The scope of the journal includes content related to psychodrama, sociometry, group psychotherapy and its history, theory, philosophy, practice, supervision, and teaching. Practice areas encompass clinical and non-clinical realms including work with individuals, groups, communities, classrooms, professionals, organizations, and society.

The journal publication plays an important role in embedding psychodrama in academia, enhancing scholarly activity, introducing academics/students to psychodrama, increasing the literature/research base, and contributing to a legacy for the next generation. The journal is now open-access, which means that published articles are freely available to anyone anywhere.

New Open Access Psychodrama Book!

Disorder-Specific Psychodrama Therapy in Theory and Practice
by Reinhard T. Krüger, MD

The open access book explains the practical approach in psychodrama with the help of multidisciplinary theories of self-development, mentalization, play, and psychosomatic resonance. These theories help to structure the therapeutic experiences of Moreno and other psychodramatists and to compare them with experiences and theories of other psychotherapy methods. Against this background, the author develops models of a disorder-specific psychodrama therapy for people with personality disorders, borderline organization, trauma disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, depression, grief reactions, suicidal crises, masochism, psychoses, addiction disorders, eating disorders, and behavioral addictions. The therapy models convey a deep understanding of these disorders and sometimes open up new ways of treatment. They can be used both in individual and in group therapy. The methods are explained with the help of more than 120 case examples. The theoretical explanation makes the psychodramatic action methods accessible and applicable to therapists from other schools of therapy as well as in counseling and coaching. This makes the practical work therapeutically more effective and creative.
