Bethlehem Holy Child Program

Bethlehem Holy Child Program We offer a therapeutic alternative education for children in Bethlehem with untreated mental health issues and exposure to intergenerational trauma.

The Holy Child Program is entirely dependent upon donations for annual operating costs. None of the families being served are able to pay full tuition. The intense nature of services being provided necessitates a high child to staff ratio. Since it is the only program in the region which serves this population, it is imperative that the Holy Child Program continue. The Holy Child Program envisions

expanding services through collaborative partnerships with local providers to increase the range of services being offered. Additionally, the program can provide a unique training center where local and international professionals can together learn and develop programs which help heal and strengthen the children and families of this region.

✨Today was a day of joy and renewal as our students returned to school for the first time in many weeks! And it is still The Easter Season!

Amidst the past challenges and uncertainty our amazing staff demonstrated brought the spirit of Easter to life with HCP’s favorite traditions of a fun egg hunt and egg coloring activity - because even in tough times, hope and joy can shine through✨

We're so grateful for our staff’s resilience and faith. We are also very thankful for all your prayers and support that have held us in hope 🙏😊

Jesus Christ has risen. He is risen indeed. ✝️

In this time of war, our faith in the love of the Savior, sustains our determination to continue to serve our HCP students and their families.

We draw inspiration from the Latin Patriarch Cardinal Pizzaballa’s Easter Vigil message: “Do not stand still before the stones of the world, but let us become... ‘living stones,’ signs of reconciliation, artisans of hope, witnesses to a life that death can no longer extinguish”

As we celebrate the resurrection of Christ in the Holy Land, the Holy Child Program finds hope and joy in being “living stones” - spreading love, kindness, and reconciliation in our community 🌟.

Today we are giving you a quick update on the wellbeing of the students and staff at our school. This report is in conjunction with an email we have sent to those on our newsletter list.

*Students have been sheltering at home due to the risks in the surrounding area.
*At this writing, these risks remain and all schools in the region, including the Holy Child Program, have been closed by the Palestinian government.
*Our students remain in their homes as HCP continues to provide home learning and hope for a peaceful future.

While the conditions in the Holy Land are disruptive to the students, we are pleased to say that all of them, their families, and the staff are safe. We have heard from many of our supporters that they have concerns for the school and are praying for the students and the community. Your prayers and support have meant so much to us and our students. We can’t thank you enough ❤️

Despite this situation ✨HOPE🙏remains.
The Holy Land is the birthplace of Jesus the Savior. We urge you to read the message below which was published on the website of the Latin Patriarch. He asks for a call to pray the Rosary on March 28.

On Friday we has an unforgettable adventure with our students!

🥾 Hiking and exploring a region that’s on the World Heritage site list.

Our guide took us on a journey as we marveled at the ancient handmade terraces and irrigation systems that date back to Roman Times!

💦 7 springs feed still provide fresh water to this land and are over 2,000 years old.
A true natural wonder.

Students got to experience the unique beauty of the local flora and fauna, learning about the native plants and animals that call this place home.🌺

After a full morning filled with new knowledge it was time to fill our bodies with nourishments provided by a local Women’s Community. Our staff is so grateful for the opportunity to support this local organization and taste the flavors of the region! 🧆🥙

And the children were thankful for the monumental effort it took for their Director and staff to organize the field trip 🙌💚🤎😀

✨Farm to Table Vibes at HCP🌿 🍽️

Guided by their teachers, students picked fresh za'atar from gardens on the school land. It has to be picked from the root!

1000’s of years this herb has been grown in the region. Za’atar is a vital cultural maker and symbol of connection to their land.

So, many families grow za'atar at home yet for some it’s a luxury that is out of reach 😞. That means, for several students, this was very meaningful first time expereince.

Next , onto bread making! 🥖
And tasting 😋
Their smiles don’t deny the sense of pride and connection – this cultural experience is boosting their confidence and sense of belonging. 💚

"HUGE shoutout to our rockstar readers! 🌟 Three of our amazing students have achieved an incredible milestone – reading 5 stories despite facing learning challenges! 🎉 Their perseverance is truly inspiring! To celebrate, they'll get a special treat at a local sweet shop!
How cool is that!? 😎

As research shows, strong reading skills are the key to unlocking a lifetime of learning, boosting everything from academic performance to mental health. We're so proud of these students and can't wait to see their future successes! 🙌
