Yesterday, Family Counseling Services was at the Idaho Capitol to provide input and advocate against further Medicaid cuts.
Access to mental health care is not optional — it is essential. Medicaid funding directly supports counseling, DD services, and behavioral health services for individuals, families, and children in our communities. Additional cuts would place significant strain on providers, reduce access to care, and most importantly, impact the vulnerable clients who rely on these services every day.
We are grateful for the opportunity to show up, share real-world provider experiences, and speak to the importance of maintaining — not reducing — behavioral health funding. Our team sees firsthand how critical these services are for stability, safety, and long-term wellbeing.
Thank you to the legislators and community members who took time to listen and engage in thoughtful discussion. We will continue to advocate for accessible, quality mental health care across Idaho.
