We need your immediate action today.
On Tuesday, November 18, the House Communications & Technology Subcommittee is preparing to resurrect and advance HR 3557, legislation telecom attorney Andrew Campanelli previously described as:
“Deceptive, insidious, and evil… actually designed to strip all powers from state and local governments over the placement of wireless facilities.”
This dangerous bill—and potentially 28 others that may be combined into a single package—would hand unprecedented power to the wireless industry while eliminating nearly all state and local authority to protect residents’ health, safety, and property rights.
Why This Matters
The markup hearing is being deceptively framed as “Streamlining Broadband Permitting.”
In reality, these bills will not improve broadband access for underserved communities.
Instead, they would:
Give telecom companies free rein to place wireless facilities anywhere they choose
Override local zoning protections
Prevent communities from protecting themselves from harmful exposure
Create conditions that can lead to sickness, disability, and life-altering harm for those injured by wireless radiation
As one attorney who represents clients harmed by wireless radiation said of HR 3557 last Congress:
“The most evil piece of legislation I’ve ever seen.”
Many Americans already suffer severe health problems linked to wireless radiation, and their only protection is the ability to limit exposure in their homes and communities. These bills could make that nearly impossible.
State and local governments are already working to deploy broadband for their residents. They don’t need federal overreach that prioritizes corporate profit over public safety.
