This past Thursday, some of our therapists stood alongside others in our community at the Capitol to advocate for Idaho families and raise awareness about potential changes to Medicaid. Weโ€™re proud to be part of such a strong, united community that shows up when it matters most.

With today being National Popcorn Day, you may raise the question on how this relates to therapy? Well, things like fine motor skills, bilateral coordination and hand strength can all be implemented when making popcorn! Sensory integration through the sound, smell, texture and the taste as well.

We understand that families may be hearing concerns about upcoming Medicaid therapy service changes. There are many unknowns at this time regarding coverage for fiscal year 2027.

What we do know is beginning this year, Medicaid therapy services for PT, OT, and speech may be limited to 20 visits, after which prior authorization is required to continue medically necessary care. We recognize that this can feel overwhelming, and we want families to know that we are actively monitoring visits and submitting authorization requests as required to support continued therapy services.

This authorization process has existed in prior years, and while it does add administrative steps, our team is committed to advocating for our clients and completing requests as needed to help maintain access to care.

That said, We will continue serving families to the best of our ability. However, we believe it is important for families and community members to understand how these policy decisions affect access to care across Idaho.

We encourage families, caregivers, and providers to make their voices heard.

๐Ÿ“ Capitol Rotunda

This is an opportunity to stand together and share why access to medically necessary therapy services matters for Idaho families.

We also encourage families to contact the Governorโ€™s office and state legislators to express concerns and advocate for sustainable solutions that protect access to care.

Thank you for trusting us with your care and for standing with our therapy community. Melissa Swander Sara Bergsma

๐Ÿ“ Why Cooking with Kids Matters ๐Ÿณ
Cooking is more than making food itโ€™s a powerful learning experience! Cooking helps children explore foods in a fun, low pressure way by seeing, touching, and smelling ingredients before tasting. This supports positive relationships with food and reduces stress around trying new foods.

Best of all, cooking builds confidence, independence, and connection. Helping kids feel capable and proud as they learn. ๐Ÿ’›"

We are Better Together

Our story goes a little like this...

A couple local SLPs had an idea. What if there was a group, a community, that connected parents, educators, specialists and like-minded people. A group designed to support families with children with various needs. A group that could share ideas, heartwarming stories, tips for IEP meetings and where to look for therapy for a loved one. A group that can support each other during the tough times and celebrate in the great times. A group that believes that you cannot do things alone. A group that believes that we are truly โ€œBetter Together.โ€
