Looking for gift ideas? Our speech and occupational therapists put together some fun holiday toy recommendations! These picks promote language, fine motor skills, hands-on learning, sensory play, imaginative play, and so much more. 🎁 Check them out and add a little learning to your holiday shopping list!

Marina SLP - Magnetic Tiles

Work on verbs: building, crashing, falling, etc.

Shared engagement: playing peek a boo with the tiles, working together to build and knock over

Label basic concepts: colors, prepositions, etc.

Karliegh OT - Milton the Mealtime Companion

Using Milton during mealtimes is a great way to help children with food exploration! He comes with a cute and engaging story to make mealtimes a little more fun. Your kiddo can feed Milton various foods to increase tactile exploration of food that they are less familiar with or foods they love! This is also a fun way to increase shared engagement at the mealtime table!

Lexi COTA - Squigs

Targets fine motor skills, bilateral coordination, problem solving, grasps and so much more!

Erin SLP - Melissa and Doug "Blockables" toys support speech/language development in several important ways:

-basic vocabulary such as animals, cars, colors, action words
-prepositions such as in/on/off/out of
-following directions

Jessica SLP - Dollhouse

The dollhouse is great because you can narrate while you are playing to work on a variety of language skills. Ideas include the parent teaching and the child's use of:
- Vocabulary such as pronouns, verbs, and spatial concepts
- A variety of early two-word phrases (person+action, person+location, possessor+possession, action+location, etc.)
- Sentences with grammar (verb+ing, plurals, possessives, articles, "is" as only verb)
- Pretend play
- Daily and social routines, and flexibility in those routines
- Expression of emotions

This week, We Are Better Together had the joy of delivering gift baskets to our valued referral sources. Each basket is a small token of our deep gratitude for the trust placed in us and the collaboration we share every day.

Referrals allow us to continue serving our community with compassion, connection, and quality care. We truly couldn’t do it without them. We appreciate our community more than words can express and look forward to continuing these meaningful connections.

We are Better Together

Our story goes a little like this...

A couple local SLPs had an idea. What if there was a group, a community, that connected parents, educators, specialists and like-minded people. A group designed to support families with children with various needs. A group that could share ideas, heartwarming stories, tips for IEP meetings and where to look for therapy for a loved one. A group that can support each other during the tough times and celebrate in the great times. A group that believes that you cannot do things alone. A group that believes that we are truly “Better Together.”
