A colonoscopy remains the best screening test we have for colorectal cancer — the third‑leading cause of cancer death in the U.S. For people of average risk, beginning screening at age 45 is now widely recommended.

Studies show that screening by colonoscopy can greatly reduce deaths from colorectal cancer, because it allows not only early detection but also removal of pre‑cancerous polyps. Talk with your healthcare provider about your personal risk (family history, symptoms, etc.) and what screening schedule is right for you.
