A few pictures from January. Its looking like the forcast this coming Sunday is mighty cold. Lessons are likely canceled since we dont teach when the high of the day 26 degrees. Ill be in touch. Winter riding brings new challenges. Sometimes the horses are feeling spicy in the cold air, so we take extra precautions to keep everyone safe, such as hand walking them before a lesson, lunging if needed and keep their backs warm with a quarter sheet. See everyone next weekend. Please dress warm, in layers. And handwarmers help too. Thank you to all the voluteers and Parkview Equestrian Center.

When the day gets tough and challenging, try to remember how great our horses are. Allow them to awaken your senses; how they sound, clip clop as we go looking for horses, how they sound when they sneeze and whinny, and how they feel, so warm, strong and soft.

Prompting is an important tool while working with riders with cognitive delays, ASD, and more. Often I use verbal and/or physical prompts to teach riders to hold reins, post, steer or name parts of the horse etc.
