🎉 Happy Birthday, David! 🎉

Yesterday, we had the joy of celebrating David, and his smile said it all. The moment that candle was lit, the whole room lit up with it. His laughter, his warmth, and the way he connects with everyone here make our days brighter.

We’re grateful to be part of his special day and even more grateful to have him as a member of our Active Day Merrillville family. Celebrating moments like these reminds us why we do what we do, creating a place filled with happiness, belonging, and community.

🎉 Happy 90th Birthday, Ms. Velma! 🎉

Yesterday, we celebrated a truly special milestone, our beautiful Mrs. Velma, turning 90 years old! 💜✨

With her radiant smile, her sparkling personality, and her unforgettable charm, Ms. Velma brings light, laughter, and wisdom to our center every single day. Watching her enjoy her cake, wear her birthday sash and crown proudly, and soak in all the love was the sweetest gift of all.

We are honored to celebrate this incredible milestone with her and grateful to have her as part of our Active Day Merrillville family. 💛

🍁🧡 Flannel & Friends — Gather & Give! 🧡🍁

Active Day Merrillville is excited to host our Flannel & Friends Celebration on November 21st, 2025 from 1:00 PM–2:00 PM!
Wear your coziest flannel and join us for a fun fall afternoon featuring a s’mores station and apple cider bar.

In the spirit of giving, we are collecting donations for Sojourner Truth House. If you’re able, please bring an item to support families in need this season. Every bit makes a difference! ❤️

📦 Requested Donation Items Include:
Canned fruit, canned meat, canned pasta, canned veggies, cereal, Hamburger Helper, jelly (no PB), mac & cheese, oatmeal, pancake mix, pasta, rice, pork & beans, soup, pasta sauce, syrup. Any gently used clothing and outerwear of all sizes.

Let’s come together in warmth, kindness, and community.

🌟 Active Day Merrillville at the CoAction.Care AgeWell Expo! 🌟

Today our Center Director, Veronica Tello, proudly represented Active Day Merrillville at the CoAction Care AgeWell Expo & Symposium!

We loved connecting with seniors, caregivers, community partners, and local resources, all coming together to support better aging, wellness, and care.

Our table was filled with fall décor, helpful program information, fun giveaways, and our popular spin-to-win activity! 🍁🍂

Events like this allow us to share how Adult Day Services enrich lives, build community, and offer meaningful support for seniors and adults with disabilities. We want to get the word out about Active Day!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, asked questions, and showed love to our program. We’re grateful for every opportunity to spread awareness and advocate for quality care in our community! 💙💛

🐶❤️ A Heart-Warming Visit from Petland! ❤️🐶

Yesterday’s Petland visit brought so much joy to Active Day Merrillville!

Our members’ faces absolutely lit up the moment those tiny paws arrived through our doors. From soft cuddles to sweet puppy kisses, the room was filled with warmth, laughter, and the pure comfort only animals can bring.

Moments like these remind us how powerful connection can be, and how even the smallest furry friend can brighten an entire day. 🐾✨

Thank you to Petland for sharing your lovable pups with us and bringing so many smiles to our members’ faces!

🍂 Fall into Creativity at Active Day Merrillville! 🎨

Our members tapped into their inner artists this week with a fun and colorful Q-tip painting activity, celebrating the beauty of autumn trees. From brilliant reds to golden yellows, each tree is as unique and vibrant as the hands that created it!

We love watching our members express themselves through art—and the results are proudly on display at our center for everyone to enjoy! 🍁👏

This month, we’re celebrating the season of gratitude, giving, and staying active—together! 💛💙

From cozy crafts and Veterans Day tributes to fun games, pet therapy, and our Flannel & Friends Celebration, November is packed with love, laughter, and purpose.

💜 We’re also honoring Alzheimer’s Awareness Month with themed activities and Purple Out Day.
🧥 Don’t forget — we’re collecting food donations and gently used clothing for our community!
🦃 Flannel and Friends Celebration: Join us November 21st at the center in your favorite flannel attire for our S'mores Station and Apple Cider Bar. All we ask is that you bring a donation for our food/clothing drive with The Sojourner Truth House.
🥧 And of course, we’re looking forward to Friendsgiving with our amazing members and staff!
