I have been processing a recent birth, as I do after each birth. I gain so much each time, I am honored to come a long a birth journey. It struck me as to why I love being a doula. I like many women longed to be a mommy, to hold my newborn baby. However, I was absolutely terrified of labor and delivery. Scared of going somewhere I had no experience doing. I was fortunate enough to choose a wonderful midwife, who went above and beyond the call of duty. She worked with me to over come my fears and as a result, I had a great experience bringing my son into the world! I went from saying, "The ability to have children defines me as a women." to saying, "Having a baby has EMPOWERED me as a women.!" I want to empower you as a women, mom, wife, employee, in all aspects of your life! I want to come along side you and encourage you to find out what you are made of. Dig deep in yourself and find out just what you CAN do! You are in the drivers seat, how do YOU want your delivery to go?

I am sharing this as an encouragement, not to insist you nurse or even nurse long term. My son self weaned at 12 months, my daughter still likes to have "milkies" at bed time. If you choose to nurse, do it your way! You are the mama to your little one!
