Some of you may know that Bright Side will be closing at the end of the year. It was a hard decision to make and one that is incredibly sad to carry.

But THANK YOU! To everyone who has called, been a client, shouted our praises, referred us, and been supportive. Thank you for the wonderful experience of opening a special place like Bright Side and letting it grow for as long as it could.

I wish this could have a different ending but I will always remember how this place has helped so many children grow and how I've been able to meet some amazing families and fellow SLPs.

I will be the first to tell you that working with insurance can be a challenge; with high deductibles and hoops to jump through for visits, it offers a unique set of challenges.

But it also allows so many families to receive speech and feeding therapy at Bright Side who otherwise could not.
Despite the challenges it is worth it to open our doors to so many families that make our jobs that much more amazing.

It's a car-cumber and a wrap plane! We worked our way up to touching foods that are wet and sticky, and now this child is building vehicles with all types of foods! 🥒🏎 🥖✈️

I love the flexibility of working with children in food school. We can dive into favorite themes and be as creative as possible!

Reach out if your child has sensory aversions to foods, a reduced number of foods they will eat, or other feeding difficulties.

SPEECH/FEEDING THERAPY OPENINGS!

We have a few more immediate speech or feeding therapy openings available!

Today’s speech and feeding session was a sweet success—we made homemade watermelon popsicles!
The kids had a blast practicing their language and building on feeding skills while chopping, blending, pouring, and tasting their creations. ☀️👅

Bright Side would like to welcome Whitney to the team!

Whitney is a speech-language pathologist who may be familiar to our current families. She previously worked as a graduate student clinician at Bright Side in the spring and will be joining the team full time this summer!

Whitney has experience working with children of all ages. She has an interest in feeding therapy and enjoys working with children in an affirming methodology.

At Bright Side we love play based therapy! Sometimes we get stuck thinking that toys make for the best play, but really the best toy is YOU!

Back and forth play like hide and seek, pushing your child on a swing, or singing favorite songs are some of the best ways to develop communication skills. These activities encourage turn taking, joint attention, and create expected routines that allow the child to engage in. Ready...set... GO play!

Check out the amazing group that Little Hearts in Amherst has set up next month for neurodiverse kiddos!

This group is only $12 per family and free for members (just please register ahead!) You can stay some or all of the time.
We will have some resource information out, but this is also a chance to just talk to other parents in the same season of life.
