✨ Q&A: Float Therapy vs. Sensory Deprivation Tank ✨
Q: Are “float therapy” and “sensory deprivation tank” the same thing?
A: They’re closely related—but not exactly the same. Both involve floating in warm, epsom salt-water, relaxed environments, but:
A sensory deprivation tank is typically a fully enclosed, dark, silent tank built specifically to remove nearly all external stimuli.
Float therapy can include those tank setups or more open float cabins where you still get deep buoyancy and relaxation — but you can control if you want a little more ambient sound, space or light.
Q: Why choose one over the other?
A: If you’re comfortable with total darkness and silence and want maximum sensory isolation, a true sensory deprivation tank might be ideal. If you prefer something a little more accessible or less intense, float therapy in a float pod or open pool gives the same buoyant, restorative effects without full isolation.
Q: What benefits can you expect?
A: Deep relaxation, reduced stress and muscle tension, improved mental clarity, better sleep, and a sense of “reset.”
