Wellness Talk Recap: Understanding Swallowing Challenges with Bridget Neilson LPN!
Residents gathered for an insightful and interactive wellness talk with Bridget Neilson from Noble Hospice, focusing on an important yet often overlooked topic—swallowing challenges.
Bridget covered everything from causes and symptoms to different types of swallowing difficulties and prevention strategies. Residents were deeply engaged, asking thoughtful questions and sharing their own experiences.
One of the highlights? Hands-on exercises! Bridget guided residents through speech and swallowing exercises designed to strengthen muscles and improve function. Laughter and learning went hand in hand as everyone gave the techniques a try!
This session was a great reminder that small, proactive steps can make a big difference in maintaining safe and enjoyable eating experiences. Thank you, Bridget, for an engaging and educational discussion! Did you know? Simple habits like staying hydrated, eating mindfully (slowly), and practicing targeted exercises can help maintain strong swallowing muscles.
