Doom Scrolling
“Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy?” — Isaiah 55:2

Lord,

Something in me just wants to escape. To be distracted. To scroll my way out of the exhaustion I can’t seem to shake. The endless posts and videos promise relief—small bursts of laughter or beauty—but they never last. I know this rhythm too well. I reach for what numbs, not what nourishes, and end up emptier than when I began.

Help me pause long enough to ask what’s underneath this hunger. What am I really longing for? Comfort? Connection? Rest? Teach me to name the ache rather than outrun it.

Show me, Lord, that You alone can satisfy the deep places of my soul. Help me trade noise for stillness, distraction for presence, and endless scrolling for moments that truly restore.

Meet me here, even in the push and pull of it all. When my fingers itch to reach for the screen, draw my heart instead toward You—the One who offers rest that lasts.

Amen.
