One of our CNAs shared a story that perfectly captures why caregiving matters so much.
She was helping a gentleman get ready for an appointment — a warm shower, a fresh shave, and a little conversation to start the day right. Over the past few weeks, he had often mentioned how much he missed a hat he used to wear every single day. It had gone missing, and each visit he would say how he wished he still had it.
Recently, a former client’s family generously donated a box of personal items. Tucked inside was a simple hat. Our CNA washed it, saved it, and brought it with her on her next visit.
When she placed it in his hands, his face lit up. He smiled, said thank you over and over, and immediately put it on. It wasn’t just a hat — it was a piece of familiarity, dignity, and comfort returned to him.
Moments like this remind us that sometimes the smallest gestures make the biggest difference. 💙
