β€οΈ Heart attacks are still a major emergency in the United States.
According to the CDC, someone in the U.S. has a heart attack every 40 seconds, and about 805,000 people each year experience one. About 1 in 5 heart attacks are silent, meaning damage can happen even when the warning signs are missed.
Common warning signs can include:
π¨ Chest pressure, tightness, or pain
π¨ Shortness of breath
π¨ Nausea
π¨ Sweating
π¨ Pain spreading to the arm, back, neck, or jaw
If you think someone may be having a heart attack:
β
Call 911 immediately
β
Keep them calm and seated if possible
β
Be ready to start CPR if they become unresponsive
Minutes matter. Knowing how to recognize a heart attack and respond quickly can make a real difference before EMS arrives.
