Six years ago this week , I sat by the side of my bonus dad as he made the transition from this world to the next. And again last January I held the hand of one of my longest and dearest friends as she made the journey to the realm beyond this one. This owl visited his porch the day of my bonus dad’s funeral. Pictures can’t do the moment justice, but he was majestic. I felt symbolism in the visit and did a little reading to learn that owls are the physical form of a spirit helper and a sign of death for the Native American people. These moments changed me and continue to work on my heart.
A few here have reached out about my grief journey, asking to hear more and I’m grateful for the opportunity. My grief teaches me things I didn’t know I didn’t know. Life is precious. Our time here is sacred. We’ve got opportunities all around us to do good, serve and lift the burdens of others. I want to be more generous with my resources and while I may not be all I strive to be, I trust that life and the Divine will give me the opportunities I need to improve. I find peace and joy in this truth. This is what grief is reminding me of this morning. ✨

Hello there,
I’m so glad you’re here- Welcome!

It’s been a minute since I properly introduced myself. I’m Emily Ruth - a forever student of life, (sometimes teacher). I started as a coach in 2013 and a few years ago went back to school for an MA in Marriage & Family Therapy with an emphasis in Trauma.
I love what I get to do everyday and am beyond lucky to walk alongside such heartful humans while they bravely meet themselves in this work.

Have we connected yet? If not, please tell me about you. I’d love to hear what brings you to this corner of the internet! DM’s and comments open 💙

And in case you were wondering, I blow dried my hair and got a second chance at that photo shoot. 😉
and are both generous souls!🙌🏼

What women are saying:
“Some retreats and workshops are about hearing the 'experts' give advice to teach the 'right' way to handle challenges. This retreat is about listening to your wisest internal voice, getting still and then moving! Learning to trust your inner knowing. This was a huge paradigm shift for me and I'm so grateful to finally know I can trust myself." -R

I read this review and my heart burst. This is exactly what Maggi Leavitt, LMFT, RPT-S] and I want for the women who join us in circle at BE retreat. We are not the “experts” telling you what to do, how to feel or not feel. We guide you back to your wise self, and help you reconnect with the Source of all goodness. How do we do that? We offer healing with a variety of modalities including, sound healing, somatic integration, art journaling, inner child work, intuitive movement, therapeutic workshops and much more.

It’s not too late to join us at BE retreat. Spots are still available and we’d love to have you join our circle.
DM me or Maggi Leavitt, LMFT, RPT-S] for more details~

Join us tonight for our Soul Vibrations gathering! We cannot wait to share this space with you.

Bring a friend! Bring your yoga mat, your water bottle (hydration is KEY), bring a blanket (also important) and a journal if you like. Wear your comfy stretchy pants and your heart.
We know that sometimes healing feels like too lofty a goal. So let’s just get together, connect, and release loneliness, okay?.

We’ll see you at 6:30 pm .

This morning’s sunrise hike guided by W E L L N E S S • W I L D] was exactly what I needed. After a couple weeks of moving a bit quicker than usual, this slow down was sumptuous. It was delicious to feel my muscles heat up and then sink into stretch at the top. Jess even toted her mini camp stove and made me prickly pear tea that I sipped while watching wild horses playing in the river.
It can be easy to forget I love tending to my heart and body— but this view, and a good friend are the perfect reminders.

I can’t adequately express how my own therapy, and the NARM model specifically has changed my work, and more importantly, my life. A few factors have contributed to my process, and this book is one of them.
The Practical Guide For Healing Developmental Trauma is out today and you can find it on Amazon and as well as any major book retailer. It’s a guide to this work and incredibly powerful not only for therapists and clinicians, but anyone interested in healing from or working with complex/childhood trauma.
I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Changes happening around here, so I’ll start with this: things have felt dark for so many of us. So I decided to lighten my hair! 😁And to some it might seem superficial, but feels good right now. And if that’s you, I encourage you to read on~
For a long time I shamed myself for the “superficial” things that made me smile. Getting my hair or brows done or painting my nails. Dressing up in a fancy dress or wearing longer eyelashes. But I’ve realized over the years that what is most important to me is how I am relating to whatever thing we’re talking about.

•Am I lightening my hair because I think I need to look a certain way to fit in? Or am I lightening it because it’s fun to change it up and play with color? (It has been the former in the past and is now the latter.)

•Do I dress a certain way because I am afraid of being rejected if I don’t? Or is it just what I feel most comfortable in, and reflects my internal/authentic experience?

These kinds of considerations have been small, but meaningful steps on my journey to further self discovery and thought I’d share in case anyone else is holding these kinds of thoughts too.

I got a facial (belated birthday gift to myself) and then bought this crystal I’ve been wanting because she’s so pretty and I feel all the light sharing vibes while sitting with my online clients.

Thank you for the kind messages about my last post. It can feel like a lot to be in the mental health field and share a vulnerable experience around deep emotion and grief. So thank you for bearing witness.

A few days ago I turned 41. I’m overwhelmed by the privilege to be alive and in connection with YOU and other folks in this space who care about mental health, compassion and being in community. Each of you here have touched my life in some way, and I want to say thank you!
Last year for my 40th I gave away 40 sessions in 40 days and that experience blew my mind and heart wide open. This year I’ve got something else up my sleeve but it’s not quite ready. Please stay tuned!
In the meantime, if you’re interested in learning about childhood/developmental trauma, check out the podcast I’m lucky to host for - *Transforming Trauma* (link in bio). It is seriously a dream job I never imagined I’d get to do. We’ve had amazing guests and even more coming. 🤯 If you’re here on this page, you may want to subscribe— especially if you’re a human who lives in community or works with other humans. (Oh is that you? Then odds are you’re in relationship with people who have experienced trauma.) DM me if you take a listen. I’d love to connect with you about it!

stay curious friend~
