For the most accurate and meaningful blood pressure reading after exercise, timing matters.

✅ Best Practice

Wait at least 30 minutes after working out before checking your blood pressure.

Why 30 minutes?

During and immediately after exercise:
• Heart rate is elevated
• Blood vessels are dilated
• Blood pressure can be temporarily higher or lower than your true resting level

It takes about 20–30 minutes for your cardiovascular system to return to baseline.

If you want clean, comparable readings:

Do this every time:
1. Sit quietly for 5 minutes
2. Feet flat on the floor, back supported
3. Arm supported at heart level
4. No talking, no phone, no stimulation
5. No caffeine, ni****ne, or food for 30 minutes

Important distinction
• For medical tracking (hypertension control):
→ Measure before exercise or ≥30 minutes after
• For fitness or recovery insight:
→ You can check immediately post-workout, but understand it reflects exercise response, not baseline BP

Extra insight (useful for training & health)
• A drop below your normal BP 30–60 minutes post-exercise is called post-exercise hypotension
• This is normal and beneficial
• Common in people who exercise consistently
• If BP stays elevated >60 minutes, that’s worth monitoring!
