Amy Alvarez is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing with Brennan Behavior Group in Metairie, LA.
Amy has over 25 years of clinical experience working with adults, adolescents and families. Amy began her social work career providing birthparent counseling and adoptive family homestudies, services she continues to provide today. Through her extensive work with young women and families, Amy developed a special interest in prenatal and postpartum mental health, infant/toddler parenting support, infertility, and infant loss. She also enjoys working with clients coping with divorce/custody disputes, step-families and career issues. Amy is LGBTQ allied and committed to social justice.
Amy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts and Philosophy from Mount Holyoke College, a Master of Social Work, and a Master of Public Health (Maternal/Child) from Tulane University. Amy also holds a certificate in Forensic Social Work from Tulane and was a Harris Fellow in Infant Mental Health at the LSU School of Psychiatry. In addition, Amy has completed advanced training in perinatal mood disorders.
When not providing clinical social work services, Amy is a professional actor who has performed in New Orleans, Baltimore and New York City.
