Sometimes, to get the most out of our fitness, we just need to shift our perspective...

What if fitness wasn’t a chore… but a gift?

For a lot of us adults, workouts can feel like another box to check off the to-do list. But shifting your perspective can completely change how you show up.

Instead of seeing fitness as punishment, see it as:
- A way to boost energy for your busy days
- A stress reliever that clears your mind
- An investment in strength, confidence, and long-term health

When you view fitness as an opportunity rather than an obligation, motivation feels lighter—and consistency becomes so much easier.

Fitness isn’t something you owe your body. It’s something you give your body.

At The Training Room, our goal in physical therapy isn’t just to help you feel less pain — it’s to help you get back to doing the things you love. Whether that’s working out, playing with your kids, returning to your sport, or simply moving through your day without discomfort, recovery should lead you back to a full and active life.

Here’s what one of our recent patients had to say about their experience:

"I was recently in a car accident, resulting in a neck injury. I saw Dr. Jonathan Burke and Dr. Jaime Greenberg for physical therapy. They gave me exercises to help increase my range of motion, and performed dry needling on the muscles around my neck to help relieve the intense pain. I was in physical therapy for about three months and now I'm pain free and back to my daily activities. I can't thank the Training Room staff enough for their professionalism and assistance in my recovery. I highly recommend the Training Room's physical therapy services."

Stories like this are exactly why we do what we do. Recovery isn’t just about healing an injury — it’s about restoring confidence in your body and helping you return to the activities that matter most to you.

If you’re dealing with pain or recovering from an injury, don’t wait to start the process of getting back to your normal routine.

No matter what sport an athlete plays — soccer, baseball, volleyball, football, basketball, or anything else — building a strong athletic foundation makes a huge difference.

Here are just a few benefits of adding strength, speed, and agility training:

1️⃣ Better overall athleticism
Learning how to run, jump, land, and change direction properly improves performance in every sport. Athletes move faster, react quicker, and feel more in control of their bodies.

2️⃣ Increased strength and confidence
As athletes get stronger, they naturally become more confident in their abilities. That confidence shows up in practices, games, and even outside of sports.

3️⃣ Reduced risk of injury
Strength training and proper movement mechanics help support growing joints and muscles, which can help reduce the risk of common youth sports injuries. Stronger athletes are more resilient athletes.

If you have a young athlete who wants to get stronger, faster, and more confident, we’d love to have them join us at The Athlete Academy at The Training Room.

📅 Classes are held Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday
⏰ 4:30 PM and 5:30 PM

If you are a PT, PTA, OT, or ATC then you'll want to pause your scrolling.

The Training Room is thrilled to host Evidence In Motion’s Sports Medicine Competencies course this April.

This course will cover the athletic management spectrum including, but not limited to pre-participation screenings, evaluation of running and throwing mechanics, taping and bracing, return to sport testing, sub-acute concussion management, dermatologic conditions, and injury prevention programs.

This course is delivered in a blended learning fashion, combining online and on-site learning experiences to facilitate participant learning.

Course Objectives/Outcomes Include:
- Utilize information from self-report measures, history, and pre-participation musculoskeletal screenings to guide evidence-based decision making and recommendations to a team physician regarding sports participation and/or need for rehabilitation.
- Implement a clinical examination for functional movement utilizing evidence-based assessment tools.
- Analyze athletic movement across different athletic populations to assess and mitigate the risk of injury.
- Examine findings from a clinical examination and an evaluation of athletic movement to prescribe targeted exercises and injury prevention strategies.
- Select and demonstrate neuromuscular training, therapeutic exercise, and manual therapy interventions based on current best evidence for the rehabilitation of the physically active individual.
- Demonstrate a clinical examination of an individual with a concussion and differentiate between the various clinical profiles based on clinical findings.
- Identify the appropriate context for taping and bracing and be able to implement taping techniques with athletic populations.

“I was looking for a group class atmosphere. From the first class I attended, I’ve felt supported and encouraged. The instructors are genuinely interested in helping you achieve your fitness goals. They are eager to provide instruction and modifications to any workout, taking consideration of your fitness level and/or injuries. The community of people who train there are also very welcoming and encouraging! Lastly, the workouts are constantly evolving, so I never feel like I’m not making progress.”

We’ve all felt like we’ve been stuck in a rut at some point.

We try something new. It’s amazing. And then suddenly all of that progress we saw early on slows down. Or worse, stops entirely.

That’s why we’ve got constantly varied workouts and amazing coaches. To help you push past those plateaus and see what you’re really capable of.

And did we mention the people? Our community will have you showing up with a smile even on the hard days.

If you've been around The Training Room the last few weeks, you might have noticed something new.

Well, someone, to be more specific.

We would like to take a moment to officially welcome Johnathon Whalen to the coaching team at The Training Room.

Many of you already know and love him because he's been working out here for years and he's probably given you the push you needed at the end of a tough workout. But if you haven't met him, here's a little about him in his own words!

Why did you want to become a coach?
"I've learned so much and have gained such an awesome community of friends. I wanted to give back by coaching others to reach their fitness goals while gaining a community of positive people."

What's your favorite thing to coach?
"I love a basic skills/ lifting drill that can help someone move more freely and without injury."

What's your favorite workout?
"My personal favorite type of workout is a straightforward, rounds for time, full-body METCON."

Any memorable coaching moments?
"I'm already seeing progress in newer members' technique in just the few weeks I've been coaching on my own."

Tell us something we don' know about you!
"I've competed on America's Got Talent through a local theater company called Lightwire Theater. My biggest motivator for training is to prolong my career as a professional performer."

Come try a class with Johnathon next week!

Youth athletes ages 9–14 are in one of the most important windows for development. What they build now sets the foundation for high school sports — and beyond.

Training year-round isn’t about doing more. It’s about developing the right qualities at the right time.

💪 Strength – Age-appropriate strength training builds muscle, supports growing joints, and creates a foundation that protects their bodies as competition increases.

⚡ Speed & Agility – Learning how to accelerate, decelerate, and change direction properly translates to every sport. These skills don’t just “happen” — they’re trained.

🧠 Confidence – When athletes feel strong and capable, it shows. Confidence built in the gym carries over to the field, court, classroom, and beyond.

🛡 Injury Prevention – Proper mechanics, stability, and strength help reduce the risk of common overuse and growth-related injuries. The goal isn’t just better performance — it’s staying healthy enough to keep playing.

The athletes who train consistently year-round aren’t just preparing for their next season — they’re building a long-term athletic advantage.

That’s exactly why The Training Room created The Athlete Academy — giving young athletes a structured, safe place to train all year long.

If you want your athlete stronger, faster, more confident, and better prepared for what’s ahead, message us to find out more.

Strength Training Matters as we age!

Strength training is one of the most powerful things you can do for long-term health and vitality.

Here's just 3 of the benefits:

1️⃣ Build & maintain muscle – As we age, we naturally lose muscle mass. Strength training helps keep you strong, capable, and independent.

2️⃣ Protect your joints & bones – Lifting weights increases bone density and joint stability, reducing the risk of injury and osteoporosis.

3️⃣ Boost energy & confidence – Strength training improves metabolism, posture, and overall confidence—not just in the gym, but in everyday life.

And no matter your age, we've got something for you.

Like our Perpetual Fitness class. This class is for athletes ages 55+ and works on balance, mobility, and strength. Class meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30am.

💥 WEEK ONE: COMPLETE 💥

We just wrapped up the very first week of The Athlete Academy at The Training Room — and WOW.

In just one week, we’re already seeing:
⚡ Better movement mechanics
💪 Stronger, more controlled reps
🏃‍♂️ Improved coordination
😎 And even more confidence walking through the door

The biggest win? The athletes are buying in. They’re listening, learning, encouraging each other, and putting in effort — even when it’s challenging.

That’s how progress starts. Not with perfection… but with consistent reps and a willingness to improve.

We’re so excited to keep building with this group. This is only week one — and the foundation is already being set. 🔥

Let’s be real: every fitness journey comes with ups, downs, and plateaus. When progress slows or life gets too busy, it’s easy to feel stuck—but that’s exactly when staying consistent matters most. Especially with the holidays.

Here are 3 ways to keep your motivation strong through the tough spots:

1️⃣ Shift your focus. Instead of only chasing the scale or the mirror, celebrate non-scale wins: more energy, better sleep, or being able to play with your kids without getting winded.

2️⃣ Remember your “why.” Write down the reason you started—whether it’s strength, confidence, or health. Revisit it when your motivation dips.

3️⃣ Change things up. Plateaus often mean your body has adapted. Try a new class, adjust your routine, or set a fresh challenge to reignite excitement.

Progress isn’t always linear—but every step forward, even the hard ones, makes you stronger inside and out. Keep showing up for you.
