Is hyperbaric oxygen (HBO2) therapy scary?

Spencer Hospital hosted a Teddy Bear Clinic to teach local first graders about the hospital by visiting each department. One of their stops was the wound clinic, where they got to explore the hyperbaric chambers. The children helped their bears enter the chamber and learned how they stayed safe in it. The bears—like our patients—were even able to watch TV or take a nap during their treatment!

For patients new to HBO2 therapy, getting in the chamber might be overwhelming, but our staffs are dedicated to ensuring every patient is comfortable, both physically and mentally, with their overall experience. Our centers also follow strict guidelines to create and maintain a safe environment for patients, physicians and the entire healthcare team alike.

As we anticipate the holidays and harsh winter months, many of our wound centers have participated in sock drives for local charities. Socks are some of the most requested items in the winter for those less fortunate, and providing clean, new socks can even help prevent foot-related health complications.
