Active Release Technique (ART) is a form of movement based, manual therapy in which the physical therapist/specialist is applying pressure to irritated areas while those areas are in motion. This hands-on treatment is meant to break up tough, and dense scar tissue in these problem areas, which in term reduces pain and improves the patient’s range of motion.

Typically, a patient would come to an ART specialist if they are experiencing discomfort in their muscles, tendons and ligaments, and/or their fascia (or “fibrous connective tissue that protects and supports muscles and organs throughout our body,” (Healthline)). These conditions could include:

➡️ lower back pain
➡️ chronic neck pain
➡️ carpal tunnel syndrome
➡️ sciatic nerve pain
➡️ tension headaches
➡️ plantar fasciitis
➡️ and even tennis elbow

Overusing your muscles and joints can result in tears, pulls, muscle spasms, or even hypoxia (or “lack of oxygen to the injured area,” (HSS)).

Stills from a treatment session. Here, Lauren is using STIMPOD on a patient’s lower leg and foot.

To recap, STIMPOD represents a newer, non-invasive approach to neuropathy care—one that focuses on improving how nerves communicate rather than simply masking symptoms.

Using targeted pulsed electromagnetic stimulation, STIMPOD is designed to:
➡️ Enhance nerve signaling and excitability
➡️ Support microcirculation around nerve tissue
➡️ Reduce abnormal nerve firing associated with pain or tingling
➡️ Help “wake up” underperforming sensory pathways

If you’re curious about STIMPOD, don’t be afraid to reach out! Our DMs are open for questions and concerns!

🎭✨ Pilates builds balance, massage keeps you loose, and Mardi Gras demands both. 🎭✨

You're standing all day, your feet and back hurt, and your shoulders have worked overtime so your grandbabies could have those big beads they're not supposed to throw anymore. Strong stabilizers + a little pre-parade self-massage = less soreness, better posture, and more energy to catch those beads. Pace yourself, hydrate, and let your body enjoy the parade 💚

So when the season is all over, and you're body aches for relief, come to the clinic for a tune-up, or treatment session, or even massage! Let us work with you to build your health journey, and see long-term relief.

Supportive shoes help protect your feet, ankles, knees, and lower back. When you’re standing for hours without proper cushioning or arch support, the strain doesn’t stop at your feet. It travels up the body, leading to soreness, fatigue, and increased risk of injury. Shoes with good shock absorption and stability reduce stress on joints and help maintain better posture throughout the day.

Make sure those shoes are comfortable, supportive, and contain enough traction to get you ready for long walks, getting stepped on, and standing for long periods at a time!

At the end of the parade season, swing by the clinic for a massage to help those aching feet.

In one month, we are hosting a 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽: 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗔𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗡𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 & 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟭𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝘁 𝟭𝟬:𝟬𝟬𝗔𝗠

Do you struggle with tingling, burning, numbness, or “pins-and-needles” in your feet? Does it make walking, balancing, or even sleeping comfortably difficult? Many adults are told neuropathy is “just part of getting older,” or that their only options are medications — but there are new, non-drug treatment options that are changing that conversation.

𝗪𝗲’𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿:
✔️ What peripheral neuropathy is and why it develops
✔️ The most common causes (diabetes, chemo, surgery, idiopathic, etc.)
✔️ Why neuropathy disrupts balance and mobility as we age
✔️ Current medical treatment options (and their limits)
✔️ New natural treatment options that support nerve function

𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 — 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗹𝗹 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗗, a breakthrough neuromodulation technology that uses electrical signaling to help reduce neuropathy symptoms, improve sensation, and support balance. All attendees will have the opportunity to try STIMPOD completely free during the event so they can feel what it’s like firsthand.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱?
undefinedIf you’re tired of:
– Burning or numb feet
– Difficulty sleeping due to discomfort
– Feeling unsteady or off-balance
– Being told to “just live with it”
– Relying only on medications…

…then this workshop is designed for you.

We’re keeping this workshop small so everyone can get hands-on time and personalized support. 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝟭𝟴 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁 to attend.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩'𝙨 𝘼𝙎𝙏𝙔𝙈?

ASTYM is a noninvasive therapy that is "designed to assess the presence of dysfunctional tissue by amplifying the tactile sensation of the underlying texture of the soft tissue." On a cellular level, ASTYM works to "stimulate regenerative response via stimulating the recruitment and activation of the fibroblasts, and thereby helps to facilitate soft tissue healing and remodeling."

This form of therapy addresses soft tissue dysfunction or injuries when the body might not be responding as expected towards more traditional therapy options. ASTYM can help you to better avoid possible surgery or injections, as well as activity limitations during your recovery process.

𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗬𝗠 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁:
✅ Pain
✅ Sprains and strains
✅ tendonitis
✅ major trauma to soft tissue
and much more

If you have any questions, don't be afraid to reach out and send us a DM! We will get to DMs ASAP!

Specializing in keeping you active, mobile and healthy for years to come...

At Tandem Physical Therapy we specialize in helping active adults in their 40’s, 50’s and 60’s stay mobile and healthy for years to come without relying on medications or making repeated trips to the doctor. In our physical therapy practice we use a skillful “hands on” approach as the cornerstone of our practice and incorporate specialized exercises to fix painful movement compensations. We are fully dedicated to understanding your concerns and aligning our treatments to match your goals. We also offer weekly Pilates-based exercise classes to keep our patients and community strong and healthy.

We know what it takes to get you better.

Our years of experience have shown us what it takes to get a successful outcome. Our physical therapy model offers the highest quality of care available. This means more time with your physical therapist providing interventions to get you where you want to be faster.

We also believe in time spent to help you understand what is causing your problem and what needs to happen to fix it. We use technology, models, books and illustrations to help you visualize what tissues are affected and why. You will feel a better sense of understanding and control after each treatment while working one on one with your therapist.
