Like many of you, we've been struggling with all that is going on right now, and how we can continuously channel our energy in support of our broader community.

We started Recirclable with a simple, firm belief: when people come together as a community, we can do good things and create real change. Our focus was on waste reduction. But the more we worked with local restaurants, the more this became about community. We are so thankful for all of the restaurants around us - local small businesses are a critical part of the fabric of our communities.

Now more than ever, that belief in community guides us.

We’ll keep showing up as best we can—personally and professionally—and standing by our community, far and wide. Sometimes it's hard to know how best to help, but we all have to keep showing up as best we can.

Community matters. Dignity matters. Justice matters. Humanity matters.

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly." Martin Luther King Jr.

Thrilled to be partnering with Clean Water Action Massachusetts to enable another Massachusetts community to offer takeout in reusables.

Our Northampton field canvassers headed to La Veracruzana Mexican Restaurant to get some eats and check out their new program fighting trash before it starts! NoHo restaurants are teaming up with Clean Water Action's ReThink Disposable campaign and Recirclable to offer free, reusable containers for taking food to-go! We are so excited for the launch of this program! (Also, yum!)

Restaurants offer Recirclable at no cost because they’re committed to cutting single-use waste. To keep the system working smoothly, we ask customers to register and “check out” their containers. This helps us:

• Keep containers circulating — so we can send friendly return reminders and prevent bowls from getting stuck in cupboards.
• Maintain restaurant inventory — ensuring every location always has enough clean containers on hand.
• Show your positive impact — by tracking waste savings for you and your favorite restaurants.
• Avoid unnecessary replacement fees — charged only when a container isn’t returned, just like a library book.

Registering takes seconds, and it keeps the whole reuse system—and the environmental benefits—flowing.

Have you registered your Recirclable containers yet? Keep the system moving and tag a friend who should too!

Don’t forget: compostables are not a solution, and in fact are worse than other single use alternatives. And more expensive for restaurants to purchase, in a business that already has razor thin margins.

Single-use plastic items are a substantial contributor to litter across Canada, but compostable alternatives can follow a similar path. Marketplace set out to determine how items would break down if they ended up in our environment.
