You're With Us

You're With Us! creates inclusion opportunities with able-bodied college groups for young adults(18+) with disabilities Sometimes we know why, often we don’t.

Children are born with disabilities that are outside of their control. What we are left with is the fact that something happened to a child, which profoundly affects them. It has made them somewhat different and has excluded them from normal social opportunities. These are the people we need to help the most. You’re With Us! allows these young adults to have special moments that few of them get to experience. These young adults have the potential to influence those around them -- a special ability to open people up to compassion, empathy and leadership. People are healthiest when they feel safe, supported, and connected to others in their neighborhoods and communities. helps fill the gap for young adults with disabilities and their families. Not only can the gap be filled by a sense of belonging, it can also be transformed into a trampoline, allowing the individual to bound into adulthood with the essential social skills and leadership tools to live a full life.

With the guidance of Chef Nancy Thompson, our participants are learning real, meaningful life skills through cooking. Nancy brings not only her culinary talent, but her heart into every class. She is deeply loved by our community and has a rare gift for making everyone feel capable, confident, and cared for.
Nancy’s passion comes from a place of lived experience. She is a proud mom to her son with disabilities. Her understanding, patience, and generosity shine through in everything she does, and our participants feel that every time she steps into the kitchen.
We are incredibly grateful to have Nancy as a mentor, teacher, and friend. She reminds us that food is about so much more than recipes…it’s about connection, growth, and believing in one another.
