A few of the students from Mr. Morehead’s sixth grade class at Metropolis Elementary School reached out to a few of our Residents to be their Penpal. They have been writing letters to each other for a few months. This week we had the kids come out for a pizza party and they got to meet their Penpal. A few of the kids from Ms. Parmer‘s fifth grade class joined us also so that you could get ready for next year. The children as well as the Residents enjoyed their time meeting each other and getting to know each other. Barney gave them a peptalk on achieving their goals in school and he gave us a history lesson that included his family tree dating back to George Washington and also a karate demonstration. Some of the kids brought cards they had made for their penpal! This was a fine group of children, and we hope they achieve all their goals in life. We told them they are welcome anytime to visit their penpal.
