When a child says, “I don’t want to go,” it’s often resistance to something challenging—not a true inability to do it. As parents, our role is to guide them through that resistance, not let them develop a habit of quitting when things get hard.
If the resistance continues, set a clear, achievable goal and have them agree to it—such as training until they reach green belt, brown belt, or even black belt. This shifts the mindset from quitting to commitment. Instead of giving up, they learn to set goals, follow through, and accomplish something meaningful—skills that will serve them for the rest of their lives.
